The north Devon coastline is a dramatic mixture of towering gigantic cliffs, spectacularly rugged rocky shores and vast sandy beaches, with some tiny tranquil coves hidden away waiting to surprise you.

A holiday along the north coast opens up all manner of things for you to discover – honey, sheep, a cliff railway, and the Beast of Exmoor – these are just some of the attractions that north Devon offers. Add in scenic walking opportunities, a restored corn mill and a village that’s privately owned and you begin to get some idea why this area has such incredible holiday pulling power.

The south coast also offers great beaches, from Dawlish near to the estuary of the River Exe, to Mothecombe, where the river Erme meets the sea further south. More than just sandy beaches there’s also a unique sea tractor at Bigbury Bay giving access to Burgh Island. Other notable beaches worth a visit include Blackpool Sands, Teignmouth, and Milton Sands.

Devon isn’t just about beaches though, head inland and there’s the wonderful wild moorland of the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks.  Known as Britain’s Breathing Spaces, these wonderful vast expanses of granite tors, wooded valleys and heath-covered moorland offer the perfect place to escape busy lives and to walk and cycle to your heart’s content.

You’ll most likely stumble across pretty villages and tucked away hamlets with welcoming country pubs where you can rest awhile before continuing with your journey of discovery.

However long you decide to make your holiday to Devon there is something for everyone to enjoy. Beautiful beaches, historic towns and cities, and dramatic landscapes that have inspired famous works of fiction all combine for a holiday to remember. All that’s left to decide is what your next adventure will be …
