Eriba caravans: 2023 showcase

The iconic Eriba brand has been making caravans for more than 60 years and continues to grow in popularity in the UK, offering three distinctive ranges – Touring, Feeling and Nova Light, plus a standalone model, the Touring 820.

The new Eriba Touring range

Touring is likely its best-known line-up, with retro styling and compact dimensions. These caravans draw many admiring glances when pitched up on campsites. They simply don’t look like anything else that you'd find on the market today. All models in the Touring range sleep between three and four people and are light in weight, making them suitable for those with smaller tow vehicles. There’s seven models to choose from: 310, 430, 530, 540, 542, 550, and 560. Plus, the newest addition, the Touring 820, a luxurious model with sleek styling and high-tech specification that will likely appeal to more experienced caravanners who are seeking a seasonal caravan.

We visited the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC and looked around three models in the Touring line-up, and here they are:

Eriba Touring 530

The 530 is cute and compact, with the classic styling Eriba is best known for and, due to it being so lightweight, it’s a great option for those new to caravanning. This model sleeps three and includes a fixed transverse double to the rear and the option for a further single bed in the lounge.

A pop-top roof allows for extra ventilation and headroom so, when you’re relaxing in the caravan, it always feels spacious, despite its compact dimensions.

A kitchen with generous workspace, a two-burner hob and 81-litre fridge make cooking on tour pleasant and simple. The washroom benefits from a bench toilet and washroom with plenty of space to stow toiletries.

We loved the little touches such as the detachable lamps – so innovative. You can use them inside and out. And in the washroom, you can remove the mirror – it shows real thought has gone into the design and it’s fun, too!

Touring 540

Like the 530, the 540 also sleeps three and it’s a fantastic model with a spacious lounge area and sofa-style seats that can become twin beds in the evening (the front dinette can be a single bed also). It’s ideal for a couple with a small child and we can see it would be the perfect way to holiday.

In the kitchen, you can make use of the extendable work surface if you need a bit more room to prepare your evening meals. And the twin-burner gas hob is likely all you’d need when you’re on tour.

The washroom is perfect and it’s equipped with a shelf and tension straps to store all your stuff so it doesn’t move when you’re towing. Everything has its place here. Underneath the washbasin, you’ll find plenty of storage space and there’s a plastic guard that stops things from falling over.

Feeling 442

The Feeling line-up includes four models which can sleep from three to seven people depending on the layout. The lightest of these is the Feeling 425 (starting at 1,200kg), while both the Feeling 442 and the Feeling 470 start at 1,300kg. The newest addition, Feeling 515, also has an MTPLM starting at 1,300kg but is the only model that can accommodate seven people.

We looked at the Feeling 442. Instantly, we can see the appeal – light enough to tow with ease and it features a pop-top roof for a more roomy feel when you’re away on holiday.

As an option, you can have the sleeping roof package – it’s only an additional 90kg of weight and well worth it if you want to sleep close to the stars!

There are little cubby holes everywhere to store bits and pieces (we’re thinking of mobile phones and there might be a few for a family of seven!). A spacious dinette is a great use of space at the front of the caravan and perfect for a family meal.

Nova Light 515

Nova Light, which arrived in 2013, is of a similar dimension to the Feeling line-up but with the comfort level of the Nova. There are five layouts to choose from, including four three-berth models – 425, 442, 465, 470, and one five-berth, the 515.

We love the Nova Light 515 – it sleeps five but comes in at under £24,000, which represents excellent value for money. A long drawbar makes for a more stable towing experience, something newcomers will welcome.

It’s rare to find a caravan that is so competitively priced but still light enough for first-timers to tow.

It’s an unusual layout with bunks to the rear and a fixed double to the front – we found the slide-out table and the step up to the double bed to be really innovative. The lounge area can also convert into a further bed. Storage is plentiful, befitting a large family, with an integrated front storage compartment which can take two gas bottles plus any other kit you don’t want to store in the caravan. Natural wood-effect cabinetry runs throughout the 515 and is modern, spacious – and, as the name suggests, light.

Touring 820

The German brand’s most premium offering is, quite simply, epic. We’ve been lucky enough to have a look around it twice now, and at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan show there were queues of people wanting to get inside.

You’ll be struck by its flawless appearance, with smooth sides, coordinating steel grab handles, branded alloys and heavy-duty steadies. And its windows are on another level – huge panoramic windows to the front and rear, a neat little porthole in the kitchen and so many curves. It’s simply beautiful.

It has many features as standard, including the easy-to-use E&P levelling system and integrated load indicator on the jockey wheel, a Thule Omnistor 9200 roof awning and an illuminated electric entrance step.

Opt for the Thule Caravan Superb bike carrier as an option, too, if you enjoy cycling.

You can only tow this with a commercial vehicle so we’d consider this to be more of a seasonal caravan and, trust us – once you’re pitched up with a fantastic view, you won’t want to go anywhere else!
