Coachman Laser 650/4

When it comes to caravanning in luxury, this Coachman is ahead of the game thanks to its three separate spaces that really divide the interior into perfect proportions. Through the lounge, kitchen and bathroom (you read correctly), you'll find the large fixed bed facing you, set for a superb night's sleep.

Your money gets you the innovative layout and plush upholstery plus an 80 watt solar panel for off-grid caravanning and external BBQ gas point to show off your alfresco culinary prowess. What's even better? You can protect all of this thanks to a Phantom ProActive 3 satellite tracking system, included as standard.

Bailey Unicorn ValenciaBailey Unicorn Valencia caravan

Topping a lot of tech lists, Bailey has equipped its latest Valencias with tricks like tyre pressure monitoring systems and solar panels as standard. There's also a 133-litre fridge added, that's 30% larger than what you'll find in previous models for sale.

But best of all in our opinion? There's a shoe cupboard by the door. It's a seemingly simple addition but means no more stumbling over boots in the doorway or awning!

Price   £20,645         Berths   4
MIRO   1339kg   Body length   5.83m
MTPLM   1493kg   Shipping length   7.37m
Payload   154kg   Width   2.28m

Sprite Major 4 SB caravanSprite Major 4 SB

Sprite caravans have been known for their affordability, but this Major 4 model takes things to a new level! The fixed bed offers a level of luxury for couples, while the end shower room saves space elsewhere in the caravan, where you'll find the well-lit lounging area and warmth courtesy of a blown air heating system.

The light weight of the Swift subsidiary company's SB means it's easy to tow too – bonus!

Price   £14,560         Berths   4
MIRO   1184kg   Body length   5.83m
MTPLM   1385kg   Shipping length   7.48m
Payload   201kg   Width   2.23m

Great caravan for couples

Compass Rallye 530

This Explorer Group tourer is wide on the inside for any caravan, let alone a single-axle three berth. Its unique layout makes great use of varied storage options throughout and gives you copious amounts of cooking and prep surface in the kitchen, accompanied by a stunning sink set-up to boot.

The dining area will spaciously seat four people with elbows – an impressive feat in almost any tourer – and the inclusion of a 40-litre on-board water tank means there's no need to venture outside as often to sort out the wet stuff. These are just some of the reasons that Caravan magazine voted the Rallye 530 Caravan of the Year 2015.

Price   £21,199         Berths   3
MIRO   1337kg   Body length   5.51m
MTPLM   1480kg   Shipping length   7.23m

Great caravans for familiesVenus 580/6 caravan

Venus 580/6

Known for their light weights and therefore easy towability, this Venus has the biggest payload of our 'best tourers' selection, meaning that you get to take more stuff with you on holiday or buy more to bring back, which is just as well when it comes to the number of berths on offer here.

The bunk beds – one set fixed and the other makes up from the dinette – offer plenty of brilliant bedroom variety; that's along with the 6.1in front singles that also make up into a double. There are enough sleeping combinations in the 580/6 to solve any squabble, make up, and indecision; all in perfect comfort.

Price   £14,999         Berths   6
MIRO   1188kg   Body length   6.05m
MTPLM   1395kg   Shipping length   7.38m
Payload   207kg   Width   2.2m

Coachman Vision 640/6

This twin-axle tourer from Coachman not only lets you double-up on double beds (the spacious side dinette makes up into the second), but features a couple of brilliant bunks to bump up the berth count to six. It's an ideal family layout that almost gives enough room for the entire cast of The Waltons. Cue campsite calls of "good night John Boy..."

The bunks themselves are of a decent depth, meaning room to move and no bashed heads in the night, while the sociable and open lounge and dining areas are flooded in rays from the panoramic rooflight; home comforts that are matched only by the roomy shower space.

Price   £19,795         Berths   6
MIRO   1507kg   Body length   6.05m
MTPLM   1685kg   Shipping length   7.38m

Elddis Xplore 526

Not only is this Elddis strong when it comes to storage thanks to a big wardrobe and a lot of kitchen cabinetry, the Xplore 526 really comes into its own as it's so good for families with small kids. There's a really versatile
side to this van thanks to separate play area at the back that can be sectioned off in the evening too.

The entry level price comes with plenty of practicality and variety in how you can use this model, meaning affordability that's light weight on the axle and bank account alike, for families looking to kick off or continue their caravanning fun!
