Dawlish holiday park introduces Climate Positive Bookings
South Devon-based Lady’s Mile Holiday Park, alongside its sister site, Oakcliff Holiday Park, is working with sustainability company, Play It Green, to reduce its carbon footprint
The site’s new ‘Climate Positive Bookings’ scheme enables visitors to opt in to plant trees and gift funds to local charities at the time of booking to help rebalance the carbon footprint of their journey to and from the park.
As part of the partnership with Play It Green, holiday park staff are also benefiting from education programmes to help drive climate-friendly change.
Lady’s Mile General Manager, Stephen Brown, explains,
We’re delighted to now introduce Climate Positive Bookings as part of our offer, allowing customers to rebalance the carbon footprint of their journey to and from the Holiday Park at an affordable price. Footprint reduction tips will also be integrated into our mailers to holidaymakers so we create a community of people delivering action.
Through this scheme, our customers have the option to add this whilst booking, and every £1 will plant two new trees and regift 10p to our selected charity. The trees are planted in Madagascar, which has been ravaged by deforestation, and are protected long-term and cared for by local people who gain employment. It’s a great solution that supports this fragile ecosystem and economy, whilst ensuring that there are more trees feeding the lungs of our planet.
As a family-run business, sustainability is a core part of our mission. We firmly believe that doing the right thing is necessary for our future and for our world. This is a step that we are proud to take and, whilst our holidaymakers enjoy our park, waterslides and accommodation, we can look forward to keeping an eye on our saplings as they grow and mature in the years to come.
