Strapped for cash or struggling for space? Now you can rent a tent for just £10
Family tents are a major investment and if you live in a small house or a flat they can be difficult to store. But if you don’t have the budget or the space to buy a big tent, you don’t have to miss out on camping adventures
Decathlon has come up with a solution that will let you enjoy family camping trips without having to spend hundreds of pounds upfront and without the need for a huge loft or garage.
The retailer has launched a new service in the UK that allows you to rent a tent for as little as £10 for three days.
Tents can be hired by simply ordering online and you can have it delivered to your home the next day.
The tent rentals are an extension of Decathlon’s existing rental service for sports gear like kayaks, paddleboards and bikes.
What can you rent?
You have 11 tents to choose from, including pop-up and inflatable models in a variety of different sizes and styles.
Among the tents included in the scheme is the Quechua Air Seconds 4.1, a four-person, inflatable model with two separate bedrooms and a living room. It also has a zip-in groundsheet and blackout technology to keep the two bedrooms cool and dark. Rental price starts at £55 for five nights and you can book it for up to three weeks.
If you think you’ll need a bit more space, you can go for the six-berth version which starts at £95 for five days.
The Quechua 2 Seconds Fresh & Black, a three-person, pop-up blackout tent, is ideal for festival campers. It’s easy to pitch and can be hired from just £25 for three days. For lightweight camping enthusiasts, four of Decathlon’s trekking models are also available to rent from just £25 for three days.
The cheapest tent on offer is the Quechua MH100, a simple two-person dome, that can be hired for £10 for three nights.
You don’t even need to clean the tent before returning it via the courier. Decathlon simply says you should make sure the majority of mud and debris is removed and it will do the rest.
Decathlon said the move was designed to ensure that cost wasn’t a barrier to people enjoying the outdoors.
Chris Allen, Sustainability Leader at Decathlon, says,
Following the success of our sports rentals in March this year, the natural next step was to launch tent rentals this summer to provide would-be campers with a low-cost, easy and sustainable way to get outdoors and give camping a go. The Rentals range has been launched to allow more people to enjoy camping trips without breaking the bank, and we are proud to be able to further the accessibility of outdoor activities.
