Keela Solo Jacket review
Aside from looking like we'd been Tango’d (our review sample came in the ‘impossible to miss in a crowd’ Fire colour), we were pretty impressed with this new jacket from Scottish outdoor gear firm, Keela
It manages to be both lightweight (680g) and warm, as well as water resistant. Plus, it can be squished into the smallest of bags, so you won’t need to sacrifice half your suitcase or clothes locker to an outer layer and a mid layer. That’s all thanks to the Primaloft insulation – unlike traditional down found in insulated jackets, this material keeps working even when wet, as well as being more compressible and lighter.
The hood is fixed, and there’s an inner pocket (apparently, it’s map-compatible), and one on each side for your hands. Hem and hood have corded adjustment while sleeves are half-elasticated, but still adjustable.
If you wanted similar features but with slightly less insulation for year-round use, take a look at Keela’s Talus coat, as they are very similar.
The Solo costs £154.95 and is available in four colours – Marine, Rescue Red, Fire and Wolf Grey, with sizes from XS to 3XL. There is also a women’s version too, priced at £149.95 in sizes 8-20.
