8 Campsites With Amazing Views

2418e2ba-2d8e-4613-9378-3d31b8ebedb0

When you book a hotel, you can’t often be guaranteed the best view in the house. But choose the right campsite, and you’ve got every chance of securing that “million dollar view.”

We’ve scoured the UK for the most picturesque pitches – the kind of campsites that will make everyone jealous when they see your Instagram posts.

Of course, the whole concept of “great views” is very subjective. For some there’s nothing better than an elevated viewpoint above a cliff or a sandy beach, where you can watch the sun rise or set. Others may opt for rolling moorland and distant heathery tops in one of our national parks. While many yearn for the stunning view of towering mountains set above lakes and rivers or down long valleys. Lakes, Lochs and rivers will all have their devotees while some may even love city skylines – it really is a case of each to their own.

Do remember that some pitches may have better views than others and some may have very restricted views. The one thing all these sites have in common is that they bring out a sense of awe and wonder in their devotees and a desire to go back and experience them over and over again.

EIGG ORGANICS CAMPSITE
INNER HEBRIDES
St Columba’s Croft, Isle of Eigg PH42 4RL

This is a basic and beautiful site in stunning surroundings on a tiny island – with views of Rum and the Outer Hebrides that are absolutely awesome! The Isle of Eigg is in the Inner Hebrides and is just 5.6 miles long by 3.1 miles wide. The main settlement is Cleadale, and Eigg Organics Campsite – the only designated camping area on the island – is to be found there. Facilities are basic; the site has a compost toilet and running water and there is a shower and flushing toilet at the nearby house. There are no electric hook-ups but the views are certainly electrifying! And to top it all, prices start at just £5 per night.

If you camp here you will certainly agree with this, as the views of Ullswater and the surrounding Lakeland Fells are incredible. Nearly every pitch here has a superb view. Side Farm is accessed down a long rough farm track and is set on an elevated sloping field with pitches on short grass with some trees dotted around. The site is basic but has clean toilets and showers near the entrance.
