Washington Caravan & Camping Park

e4977f80-95ae-4e67-8a77-7ee7d8a95fd9
THIS four-star commercial campsite, which is recommended by the Alan Roger’s Guide amongst others, boasts fantastic facilities and an easy to find location. Situated just off a roundabout on the A24, the site is about 17 miles away from Brighton, but with main roads linking Washington and Brighton it’s a relatively quick journey.

The site is beautifully kept, with attractive planting of both flowers and trees that break up the pitches and the perimeter fence. All the motorhome touring pitches are on flat hardstandings, and all of them have electric hook-up points. In total there are 21 pitches, arranged on terraced groups of three. The electricity is on metered hook-ups, so you only pay for what you use.

Brick-built barbecues are available for use, and there are picnic tables too on the large grassy field which is used for up to 80 tenters during the summer. This large field gives this 4.5-acre site a spacious feel, although this would obviously not be so much the case when the tenters are in residence. An attractive wooden chalet houses all the facilities, all of which are exceptionally clean. There are large shower rooms (use of which is subject to a small charge), laundry facilities and a washing-up area.

This is a great place for horse riders too, as next door is a new equestrian centre, Washington Paddocks. And being positioned on a main road it’s great if you want to explore a wider area of the south coast, with Chichester, Littlehampton, Worthing, Bognor Regis, Brighton and Eastbourne all being within easy driving distance. There are plenty of inland places to visit too, particularly around Midhurst and Petworth. You’ll never be short of ideas for days out, particularly as tourist information leaflets are available in the site’s reception.
