North Yorkshire Moors Railway announces festive dining menus
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR), an award-winning charitable trust that carries 300,000 passengers along its 18-mile heritage line every year, has announced its festive menus
Running throughout December, the Christmas Moorlander lunches, starting from £78 for one person, and Christmas Buffet, priced at £1,450 for up to 18 people, are popular events for the heritage railway.
Served in an eclectic mix of heritage carriages decked out with Christmas decorations, the Christmas Moorlander Lunch starts with a glass of mulled wine, before a starter of either spiced root vegetable soup, goat’s cheese curd or smoked salmon mousse. Mains include traditional roast turkey, pulled pork roulade or a pumpkin, chestnut and sage wellington, all served with roast potatoes, sprouts, and honey-roasted carrots and parsnips. Dessert options include traditional Christmas pudding, apple and wild berry crumble tart or a cheese selection.
Served in the Great Western Saloon for up to 18 people, the Christmas Buffet menu includes a cold meat platter, smoked salmon platter, traditional pork pie, and cheese and broccoli quiche, with artisan breads and salad. Buffet desserts include lemon tart, fruit cake and mince pies, and a savoury option of Yorkshire cheeses with crackers, celery, apple, grapes and Yorkshire chutney.
