Morris Leisure installs defibrillators at all sites
Holiday park operator, Morris Leisure, has installed defibrillators at all six of its Shropshire and north Wales touring and holiday home sites
Keen to help visitors and members of the local communities, the life-saving defibrillators have been installed to ensure the best chance of survival in the event of someone going into cardiac arrest on site.
Supplied by Shrewsbury-based company, London Hearts, which helps fund Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) across the UK, the PADs have been installed at all six of Morris Leisure’s campsites, including:
- Stanmore Hall Touring Park in Bridgnorth
- Oxon Touring & Holiday Home Park in Shrewsbury
- Ludlow Touring and Holiday Park in Ludlow
- Bow House Country Park near Bishop's Castle
- Llanberis Touring Park in Llanberis
- Riverside Touring & Holiday Home Park in Betws-y-Coed
Paul Perry, Morris Leisure’s Facilities Manager, says,
When someone has a cardiac arrest, timely intervention is the key to survival. By making more defibrillators available, the better the chance of survival for a cardiac arrest victim.
With the effective and speedy delivery of treatment, survival can be raised to 70%, but this requires CPR chest compressions and the use of a defibrillator. The chance of survival decreases by 10% per minute after a cardiac arrest, so the faster help can be given the better the outcome.
The units are registered on a national network – thecircuit.uk – connecting defibrillators to NHS ambulance services across the UK, so that in those crucial moments after a cardiac arrest, they can be accessed quickly to help save lives.
Anyone wishing to use a defibrillator in an emergency can obtain the keypad code by calling 999 and giving the site address.
