St Andrews Holiday Park

This award-winning Scottish site is perfectly located for exploring the east coast of Scotland and beyond. The university town of St Andrews – famed for its royal alumni – is within walking distance if you fancy a little shopping (just make sure you’ve got someone to carry your purse for you).

And of course, you can’t talk about the town without mentioning golf, as it’s understandably one of the reasons many people choose to come to this area. The best courses including the Old Course are almost literally on your doorstep.

If there’s a particular pitch you fancy, you’re welcome to reserve it and this won’t cost you a penny. And should you want to stay for five nights on the same pitch, you’ll get one night free and you’ll get 10% off if you choose to book online. These offers are available all season so whenever you book, there’s sure to be a saving to be had.

Tent pitches are set within a grassy area of the Spires View touring field, close to the play park and the Braes Bar & Restaurant. Each tent pitch has electric hook-up included in the price and can typically accommodate a tent of up to 4m x 4m.

The onsite bar and restaurant has plenty of fresh food for you to enjoy and the speciality burgers are a must – you can choose from katsu curry burger, wild boar and chorizo and many more. There’s also a great children’s menu if you’re taking the little people with you and a play park so they can let off some steam before you bundle them into their beds.

Kinkell Braes, St Andrews KY16 8PX

Open March 21 – Oct 31 2019
Cost From from £16.56 per night (when booking 5 consecutive nights online on one pitch)

  • The Scottish Deer Centre, a 20 minute drive away, is an extensive wildlife park with wolves, lynx, bears, otters, Scottish wildcat, 16 species of deer and friendly rangers giving feeding sessions and falconry displays. Plus indoor and outdoor play areas, a shop and café.
  • For a fascinating, if slightly eerie, day out visit the Secret Bunker near St Andrews. It was built deep underground during the Cold War to help protect Scotland from a nuclear attack, and is now a popular tourist attraction.
  • St Andrews is the place to go if you like golf. It boasts several courses (from nearly 50 across all of Fife), including the world-famous Old Course.

The family-run and award-winning Ship Inn, down the coast at Elie, is an East Neuk institution and a must-visit. The food is exceptional; the locals’ favourite is the paella packed with langoustines, salmon and chorizo. Testimony to the reputation of the award-winning Anstruther Fish Bar is the queue out of the door. Try the haddock and chips, prawns and gluten free ice cream.
