Editor's Pick - The Best Wales Campsites

Our selection of the best sites for exploring wonderful Wales...

There are three award-winning touring caravan sites at Bron Derw - a main touring park, an adults only touring park and a Caravan & Motorhome Club CL. The main site and the adults-only site have multi-serviced pitches, with heated amenity block, utility room, WiFi and dog walking area. The site is in a secluded setting with views of fields and hills. The site's location is just on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, four miles from Betws-y-Coed and 16 miles from Llandudno and the coast. The market town of Llanrwst is less than half a mile away. Here you will find shops, cafés, restaurants and the delightful Tu Hwnt i'r Bont tearooms set on the banks of the River Conwy. Other local attractions are Bodnant Gardens, Conwy Castle, The Welsh Mountain Zoo, Zip World Adventure, Surf Snowdonia and the Marin Mountain Bike Trail.

Erwlon Caravan and Camping Park is located within walking distance of the pretty Welsh town of Llandovery, with its shops, pubs, and takeaways. The caravan park is a peaceful and well-maintained site offering high-quality facilities. The loos and showers are particularly well-appointed, with family rooms and accessible facilities. Fishing, pony riding, and mountain boarding are all practised nearby, and the dramatic scenery of the Brecon Beacons is on the doorstep. This is a great area for walkers and cyclists to explore. Erwlon is just off the A40, but well screened from road noise, and within a short walk of buses to Brecon and Carmarthen. The site also offers bike hire to enable you to make the most of discovering the area.

This quality campsite, the closest to Barmouth, is just 100 metres from a glorious beach and 20 minutes' level stroll to the town centre. Barmouth is a little gem of a seaside town with a great harbour that is sheltered by cliffs and hills behind. Hardstanding and grassed pitches are available, many with electric and water. Immaculate shower and toilet facilities. There is a launderette, parent and baby room, disabled facilities, shop and enclosed play area. Pets are welcome with a huge dog zone on the beach. The site is screened by mature trees to shelter it from the sea breezes and separate it from the buildings of the town. Electric vehicle charging point on site.

Providing an excellent base to explore the Gower Peninsula, the Brecon Beacons and local retail parks, Llwynifan Farm offers beautifully landscaped pitches with far-reaching views across the Loughor Estuary. This four-star, award winning, adults only campsite is just a mile off the M4 and a 15-minute drive from the south Wales coast. Pitches are arranged across three tiers to provide level bases and make the most of those views, and all have electric hook-up – some fully serviced pitches are also available and standard pitches are open all year. The facilities include individual shower rooms, vanity units and a laundry. Dogs are welcome, dog shower area, free WiFi and a bus stop close by.

Bron-Y-Wendon Holiday Park has amazing panoramic views of the Irish sea and Llandudno’s Great Orme. Easily accessible, with the North Wales Coast Path adjacent, you can walk or cycle safely to all of the local seaside towns. North Wales has so many areas of outstanding natural beauty, alongside a range of amazing activities to enjoy. With 130 touring pitches and four holiday cottages, Bron-Y-Wendon Holiday Park is an excellent location for your holiday, where you can explore Snowdonia, Anglesey, Llandudno, Conwy and much more. Whether you want to relax or create your own adventure, North Wales has it all.

Caerfai Bay Caravan & Tent Park overlooks the Pembrokeshire Coast and offers stunning panoramic sea views and excellent facilities. The park is less than one mile from St Davids, Britain’s smallest city, and just 300 yards from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the sandy bathing beach at Caerfai. St Davids is perfect for exploring, with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace, together with cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. Caerfai Bay is the perfect spot for walkers, families, rock climbers, water sports enthusiasts, stargazers and wildlife lovers. Pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents. Motorhomes are welcome to stay on touring caravan pitches. Tent fields have dog friendly and non-dog areas. Facilities include a modern underfloor heated amenity block with toilets, showers and a campers’ kitchen.

Located on a working hill farm, Fforest Fields is in a beautiful, rural location with two lakes for swimming, kayaking and fishing. There are plenty of walks direct from the campsite through woodland and up to open moors. There are two areas to the campsite, the original site, with a small mountain stream, has an intimate feel with pitches tucked away and a lot of natural planting. The other field is more open with spectacular views down the valley to the hills beyond. A carbon neutral and award-winning facility provides showers, toilets, family rooms, washing up and drying rooms in a central courtyard area, along with a seasonal café and outdoor seating.
