Norfolk is a brilliant camping destination.

Here is a selection of 10 top campsites where you can enjoy a fantastic family adventure

A 34 acre park set in extensive woodlands, with 110 pitches in a mix of tents and caravans. The camping facilities here are spread over eight areas and the facilities are outstanding, including a solar-heated outdoor pool, mini-golf, tennis and adventure playground.

It’s very much a family-friendly place to camp, with a variety of different types of pitch sympathetically integrated into the surrounding environment – from secluded woodland nooks to open, family friendly grassy areas. It also has its own pub, the Muskett Arms, which has an extensive and good value food menu.

Kelling Heath is a thriving holiday park, packed with quality facilities and activities with a real community feel. Camping pitches here are surrounded by natural countryside and you can walk for what seems like miles through woodland without actually leaving the site.

Set a mile from the north Norfolk coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Kelling Heath is an environmentally aware 250-acre park offering a wide range of activities for all the family. As well as the usual amenities, which are all of a high standard, the site has a Village Square complete with store, bar and restaurants.

For the children, there are two adventure play parks while you can sign up for the health and fitness club, which has a swimming pool, spa, sauna and steam rooms, plus an outdoor pool. You might even see red squirrels on-site.

A fine Club site that is in a tranquil rural location but is close to the myriad attractions of the north Norfolk coast.

Searles is a superbly appointed, award-winning family site just a few minutes’ walk from the sea and has everything you could need for a great break, with landscaped grounds and gardens.

A short walk from the beach and harbour of Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Deepdale and an easy drive to the rest of North Norfolk’s wonderful coast, this is a lovely campsite that is almost exclusively for tents and very eco-friendly.

The camping area overlooks the marina and river and all the pitches are on flat ground, with electric hook-up available if you want it. If you prefer to leave your tent at home, there are luxury pods available, complete with comfy beds, heating, mains electricity and a TV.

Canoe and river cruiser hire, an indoor pool, a excellent playground and a child-friendly restaurant/bar all make this a fantastic campsite for you and the kids.


VAUXHALL HOLIDAY PARK

Vauxhall Holiday Park has so much to do that you hardly wander off site. There’s an indoor Tropical Water World, Splash Zone, and Sports World offering a huge range of activities for all ages, including crazy golf, 10-pin bowling, cycle hire, go-karts, an extensive adventure playground.

On the sports field you can play football, tennis, golf, volleyball, cricket and basketball and there’s a kids’ club and evening entertainment.

Curious noses and muddy paws will love sniffing out adventure among Forest Park’s 100 acres of Norfolk woodland and rolling countryside.

This campsite is just one mile from Cromer and sandy beaches are a short walk away.


WHITLINGHAM BROAD CAMPSITE

Whitlingham Broad Campsite is situated within 80 acres of country park, within the Broads National Park and just 15 minutes by bike from Norwich’s historic city centre. There’s also a bus stop just under a mile away.

A few minutes’ walk from site and you can hire canoes and kayaks to explore the waterways and enjoy woodland walks. Pitches are spread over two fields, both just a short walk from the visitor centre and café. You can rent fire pits on site and there are washrooms with family rooms and wheelchair friendly facilities.

As well as the usual chain stores of a large city, Norwich has plenty of independent cafés and bars to sample, along with a castle (with dungeon tour if you’re brave enough!), museum and art gallery, and not one, but two, cathedrals.


WOODHILL PARK

On a clifftop position between Sheringham and Cromer, Woodhill Park has 250 pitches. The amenities include toilets, showers, a family bathroom and three family shower rooms. Dishwashing sinks and a laundry are available and the on-site shop offers basic goods.

There’s a themed children’s play area, a games fields and giant chess. For keeping four-legged friends happy you can walk along the coast path into Sheringham or Cromer. On the site’s website there are a host of walking routes that start from the park too.

There’s also pretty Sheringham Park nearby with its vast collection of rhododendrons to explore, and a 50-minute drive brings you to Holkham where there is a massive sandy beach that is dog friendly all year round.
