Every year brings new developments in the camping world and 2020 is no different.

Ahead of this year’s Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at Birmingham’s NEC we’re looking forward to lots of advances designed to make family camping life easier, from flexible living to peaceful sleeping.

And 2020 will also see the return of some famous camping brands and a completely new range of family tents from one of the most respected names in lightweight, technical camping.

You’ll be able to catch up with many of the latest models at the NEC between 18 and 23 February.

Set across five halls of the NEC, the show offers a huge display of tents, trailer tents, leisure vehicles, static holiday homes, lodges and more.

The Camping Zone in Hall 5 is the first stop if you want to see tents of all types, shapes and sizes, pitched under one roof with experts on hand to offer advice on what is best for you.

This year’s display will include everything from tiny adventure tents, through family-sized tunnel tents to glamorous tipis and bell tent.

WHAT TENTS CAN I SEE ON DISPLAY?

Danish manufacturer Outwell celebrates its 25th birthday this year with a raft of new tent innovations. Among the new features introduced in some of the 2020 tents are Quick & Quiet inner doors, which use magnets for silent access to bedrooms.

Outwell Parkdale 6PAInnovation continues with the Outwell HookTrack system that allows lights and small items to be positioned where required, and the new versatile Wing Lounge, which increases living space at the side of the tent without increasing the length.

The importance of a great night’s sleep is at the heart of the 2020 family camping collection from leading Scottish brand Vango.

A new range of products has been launched under the banner “Sleep Better with Vango” –spearheaded by the new Nightfall and Midnight bedrooms in family tents, which use dark fabrics to prevent sunlight from pouring into the bedroom early in the morning.

The 2020 range from Coleman introduces a wide selection of new inflatable family tents, glamping and festival models and smaller shelters – including the return of a well-known name from the past.

The new Weathermaster Air range is designed for comfort and convenience, with FastPitch inflatable technology that allow the tents to be pitched by one person but still provide a secure structure.

Coleman Weathermaster 8XLAll the tents in the range have extra-large bedrooms and are fitted with Coleman’s award-winning BlackOut fabric, which blocks up to 99% of daylight.

Lichfield is a well-known name in the camping world and 2020 will see the brand return to the mainstream in a big way, with a new range of quality family inflatable and pole tents. The full range will be revealed at the NEC show.

New Zealand manufacturer Zempire will be bringing its 2020 range of inflatable family camping tents to the NEC. The all-new Evo Series will be available in three models, TM, TL and TXL, each featuring an open-plan design with multiple ventilation points.

Robens is launching 12 new tents including a completely new collection in 2020.

Khyam will have its biggest-ever tent range in 2020 and Kampa is rebranding under the name Kampa Dometic.

WHAT'S ELSE IS ON AT THE SHOW?

Alongside the tents, accessories and equipment, the show will also offer family-friendly activities.

The popular Freedom To Go Theatre will host live shows covering many aspects of holidaymaking and adventuring; as well as special guests ranging from TV stars, Shane Richie and Matt Allwright, adventurer, Darren Hardy, and chef, author, presenter and Bake Off star, Nadiya Hussain.

In addition, the Freedom To Go Theatre will host the adorable spaniel trio Max, Paddy and Harry… and, while on the theme of dogs, 2020 also sees the return of the Top Dog Arena, where showgoers can take a break from their holiday planning to enjoy some spectacular canine agility demonstrations.

Also new for 2020 is Electric in Motion where visitors will be given a chance to ride on some of the latest electric bikes, scooters, skateboards and even unicycles.

• Wednesday 19 February is ‘MMM, Caravan and Camping Day’, and on this day there will be talks and demonstrations in the Live Theatre by Peter Vaughan, Road Test Editor of MMM, and Clare Kelly, Editor of Caravan magazine, which is also published by Warners.
