Huge new campsite planned for South Wales
One of the biggest campsites in Wales is to be created as part of a £425million tourism development.
The Circuit of Wales in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, aims to become one of Wales’ top tourism destinations, with a world-class motorsports track and facility and a leisure and entertainment hub.
It will host adventure and action sports, with mountain bike trails, a BMX park, bungee jumping, an indoor ski centre, a skatepark and a surf park on-site. Visitors will also be able to take part in clay-pigeon shooting, archery, cross-country running, hiking, orienteering, mountain biking, fishing, walking, zip-wire, ballooning, drone racing, and make use of a golf driving range.
The development will be served by a brand new campsite – said to be one of the biggest in Wales.
The Circuit of Wales already has in place a ten-year agreement to promote and host the British MotoGP, with the first events set to take place from 2019. It will also hold music events, culture and arts programmes and will be capable of hosting major festivals.
Martin Whitaker, chief executive of the Circuit of Wales said: “By bringing together world-class motorsports events, with leisure and entertainment facilities that will attract action sports and music fans from across the world, the Circuit of Wales will become truly a 365-day-a-year centre for tourism, set in an area of outstanding beauty, that will bring a huge boost to Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent and to Wales.”
