Fjallraven launch 16 new tents for 2016

Swedish outdoor brand Fjӓllrӓven has launched a new range of tents for 2016 featuring 16 brand-new models.

As well as the new designs, the brand has also updated several of its most popular models with revised features and a new lightweight, nylon fabric.

The tents are categorised into Fjӓllrӓven’s existing product families, with the new Keb tent models sitting alongside the brand’s most technical garments, designed for extended use in more challenging conditions. The new Abisko tents have been developed for lightweight, summer trekking trips and these feature more lightweight construction and ventilation.

All 16 of the new 2016 tent models will feature the brand’s latest nylon TripleRip flysheet. The fabric is designed to be strong but lightweight and has been treated on both sides with four layers of silicone, which adds to the material’s longevity.

The new tents have been designed with an innovative hybrid flysheet. Reinforcements in a heavier denier fabric around the tent base help enhance its strength and performance, while the rest of the flysheet is constructed from a lower denier fabric to keep weight down. The lighter Abisko models have a 20 denier main flysheet with 40 denier reinforcements, while the Keb tents feature a 40 denier flysheet with reinforcements in rugged 70 denier Nylon TripleRip.

The tents are also constructed with folded rather than taped seams, which they say increases strength and stability with no risk of delaminating over time. The thread used in construction swells when wet, to make them 100% waterproof.

The new 2016 models also feature low friction pole sleeves that have been made larger to easily accommodate two poles in high winds. Pitching has been simplified thanks to adjustable fox feet pole holders and colour-coded pole-sleeves. And a zipper lock function means that the external doors can be secured in a half-open position for extra ventilation when required.
