Ferry company has safety rapped up

Let's be honest - no-one ever pays attention to the safety messages on planes and ferries, even though we know we should.

But on the brand new £50million Condor Liberation ferry, they're taking a novel approach to the safety video to make sure you do actually watch.

Instead of a dreary film of cabin crew pointing towards exit doors, Condor Ferries has created a rap video, featuring a cool captain, a sassy stewardess, and a street-wise steward rhyming over a version of "Good Times" by Chic.

The video will be shown from 27 March on all sailings of the new state-of the art craft between Poole and the Channel Islands.

As well as being a bit of fun, the rhymes are designed help passengers to remember the instructions, making it clearer, and more helpful than traditional safety announcements.

Alicia Andrews of Condor Ferries, said: “We’re really proud of the new safety video, it’s been a very fun project to work on, and we’re delighted with the results. Our brief was simple, we wanted something a little bit different, something that our passengers would sit up and take notice of, and which would appeal to all members of the family.  We think that the rap, with the Good Times messaging does just that!"

Condor Liberation - the only trimaran ferry of its kind in Northern Europe - makes its first sailing on Friday 27 March, with seating for up to 880 passengers and space for 245 vehicles. The ship will sail daily from Poole to the Channel Islands throughout the summer.
