CMT 2021 to be postponed
CMT, the world's largest consumer show for leisure and tourism, will not take place as planned in January 2021.
Held by trade fair organiser Messe Stuttgart at the Leipzig Trade Fair Centre in Germany, the decision has been made to postpone the show, with plans to reschedule for late spring or summer next year.
Roland Bleinroth, president of Messe Stuttgart, said: "In view of the latest corona developments, the decision taken in coordination with our trade fair partners for postponement was unavoidable."
Guido von Vacano, member of the Board of Management, added: "The registration numbers were – despite individual cancellations – very good, in some areas we even had a waiting list. We had an approved safety and hygiene concept and our colleagues were working tirelessly for the trade fair.
"We need planning security for our exhibitors and partners. With each day a trade fair approaches, costs are incurred for all involved. The worst-case scenario is cancellation just before the start of a trade fair. Unfortunately, the risk of such a scenario arising for CMT in January 2021 had strongly increased with the latest developments.
"We are now also working intensively andin close coordination with our long-term partners on a viable replacement scenario."
