How Stean Gorge expands with luxury chalets

c84c382e-9dc4-47ab-b9cc-dfd4aec7c7aa

How Stean Gorge – one of Yorkshire’s ancient natural wonders – has expanded its on-site camping park with the addition of six eco-friendly luxury chalets

The site, which already offers 20 camping pitches, now has wooden chalets which sleep up to 10, some of which include hot tubs and wood-burning stoves.

Hundreds of trees have been planted around the new chalets, while a 1,000-litre hot water system with underfloor heating in the shower block and new kitchen facilities have also been introduced.

Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, the new chalets provide the perfect base for exploring How Stean Gorge, an activity facility based around a 20m-deep chasm and underground cave network, carved out over thousands of years by waterflow.

How Stean Gorge is one of Yorkshire’s top visitor attractions, offering a number of outdoor activities, including yoga, wild swimming, rock climbing, canoeing, abseiling, caving and gorge scrambling. It’s also home to the only via ferrata, a series of high wires and zip wires, in Yorkshire and one of three in the UK.

Director of How Stean Gorge, Tony Liddy, says,

We’ve transformed the site with our ambitious expansion plans to cater to the huge demand for adventure tourism. We want to showcase nature’s stunning playground in this unique gorge that has existed for ten thousand years.
