Introduction to Beaconsfield Holiday Park

At the end of a long driveway running through sheep fields, within rolling Shropshire countryside, you’ll find Beaconsfield Holiday Park.

It’s an adults-only site, with a tranquil atmosphere, set four and a half miles north of Shrewsbury town centre.

There’s so much to see and do in Shropshire that it’s somewhere we keep returning to... Thanks to Shrewsbury’s central location within the county, it’s a great choice as a base for visiting all that Shropshire has to offer.

What the campsite has to offer

The leafy and well-maintained campsite offers both 10A and 16A fully serviced, hardstanding pitches, some of which are sited alongside a picturesque fishing lake.

Facilities are housed in a central complex and include showers and toilets, a dishwashing room and a launderette. You’ll also find a motorhome service point, dog exercise area and an impressive a la carte restaurant on the campsite.

For those seeking an active break, Beaconsfield has a heated indoor swimming pool and steam room (available at an additional cost). There’s also coarse fishing, and walking enthusiasts are well catered for as there are plenty of public footpaths in the vicinity, plus the Shropshire Way runs adjacent to the park. Hadnall, around three-quarters of a mile away, has the nearest pub, shop/post office and bus service.

Things to do

There’s so much to see and do in Shropshire that it’s somewhere we keep returning to. It’s not every day that you have the opportunity to go on a guided tour of a prison with an ex-officer. But that was exactly what we did (with our dogs, too) as Shrewsbury Prison, in the town centre, is open as a tourist attraction. It was undoubtedly a fascinating and memorable experience.

Very different, but equally enjoyable, was our visit to Wroxeter Roman City (which is managed by English Heritage). Visitors can wander around a reconstructed Roman villa in what was one of Roman Britain’s largest cities.

Thanks to Shrewsbury’s central location within the county, it’s a great choice as a base for visiting all that Shropshire has to offer. Within half an hour or so you could be immersed in history on a trip to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, enjoying a walk in the Shropshire Hills above Church Stretton, or exploring some of the area’s plentiful National Trust sites.
