Camping Awards 2024 category: Best Festival Tent
Festival tents – like festivals themselves – come in all different styles. For couples, a simple pop-up will probably meet your needs but, if you’re taking the family, obviously you’ll need something more substantial. The most important thing is that they’re easy to pitch and will keep you dry

Why the Vango Classic Instant 300?
If you asked someone to do you a quick sketch of a tent, they’d probably come up with something like this. This is a twenty-first century take on the classic A-frame ridge tent that we all recognise from the likes of Carry On Camping – and it’s even available in 1960s orange as well as in deep blue or a geodesic pattern.
The aptly named Classic Instant 300 is easy to use and it’s ideal as a beginners’ tent for weekends away. But where it really comes into its own is as a festival tent. It’s the perfect size for two campers and the new hub structure means it pops up in seconds and, crucially, folds down like an umbrella, so takes no time to pack away.
The darkened inner and ventilation are brilliant, too, for those ‘morning-after-the-night-before’ moments when the early sun is beating down on your tent.
And if the sun isn’t shining, the bathtub groundsheet extends 10cm above ground level to keep your tent dry in wet weather and the PowerFlex fibreglass poles should be strong enough to keep it standing in strong winds.
We like
- Classic ridge tent shape (and colour!)

Our verdict
Festivals are all about fun and that’s exactly what the Easy Camp Moonlight Spire tipi brings to the party.
Thanks to the A-frame pole structure, it’s easy to pitch and spacious enough for four people. It also looks fab – and you’re even supplied with bunting to give it a funky makeover!

Our verdict
The Rumpus is a great festival basecamp for a family of four – with the large vestibule providing room for your kit, or a place to chill out before heading to the main stage. It’s a quick tent to pitch and its duffel bag makes packing up easy.
