Park home owners’ annual conference

e79e368e-9e2c-4972-8fb3-9ad65184524c
Since the launch of its website in October last year, the National Congress has gone from strength to strength.

General Secretary, Bob Holland, has sat on the All Party Parliamentary Group in Westminster, met the Minister for Housing and Local Government, Grant Shapps MP, and enlisted the support of MPs, Peers, campaigning groups and individuals.

The Annual Conference moves the campaign for park home law reform up a gear and it is anticipated up to 1000 park home owners will join the press and media to find out more about the latest developments via an impressive speaker line-up.

They include, it is hoped, the Housing Minister Grant Shapps, Annette Brook MP (a prominent campaigner for park home legislation reform), Stephen Gilbert MP (currently promoting a Private Members Bill for a Fit and Proper Person Test for park site owners), legal expert Graham Watts, Gemma Bowen from watchdog ‘Consumer Focus’, park home resident campaigner Sheila Austin and Det. Insp. Mark Colquhoun who has successfully prosecuted an unscrupulous park operator and written guidance for other police forces.

There will also be an opportunity for Congress members to formally adopt a provisional Constitution and the day will culminate with a question and answer session, where park home owners can quiz the speakers on anything they feel has not been covered.

In line with its ethos to support the community it insures, Towergate Insurance is the main sponsor of the Conference and Park Home Account Director Paul Baker has been heavily involved in organising the event.

The conference has the backing of the leading national park home residents’ representative bodies, IPHAS and NAPHR, who will be encouraging their members to attend.

Towergate has been an active supporter of the campaign for park home legislation reform and this Conference compliments its already successful roadshows which encourage debate, promote key issues and inform park home residents on campaign developments.

The firm also sponsors IPHAS and a number of park residents’ associations, and recently developed a new park home legal expenses policy which includes cover for disputes with park owners.

Organisers are keen to attract additional sponsors and invite businesses within the industry and beyond to not only sponsor the event, but book a stand in order to promote their brand, products and services to around 1000 delegates.

No entry passes are available on the day, delegate passes will be issued in advance - allocated on a ‘first-come first-served’ basis. To help cover costs there will be a charge of £3 per person or £5 per couple.  Conference 2012 is a non-profit making event organised and staffed by volunteers.

The Second City Suite is on Sherlock Street, Birmingham, B5 6LT.  Doors open 9.30am and the Conference begins at 10.30am.  Lunch is 1- 2.15pm and the Conference closes at 4.30pm. Refreshments/buffet-style snacks can be purchased from the venue hosts. There’ll be mid-morning and mid-afternoon comfort breaks.

For a delegate pass, write to; Mike Rolph, Membership Secretary, 51 Blueleighs Park, Chalk Hill lane, Great Blakenham, Suffolk IP6 0ND and enclose a cheque payable to the National Park Home Congress for the required fee (£3 per person or £5 for couples), together with your name and address.

Alternatively book online at www.parkhomecongress.com using paypal, credit or debit cards.

Special concessionary rates are available for Congress members and parties of eight or more.  To find out more, contact Mike Rolph or visit the Congress website.

Companies interested in sponsoring the event, booking a stand or Programme branding should phone Paul Baker on 07879 846740 email [email protected]
