NPHC relaunches park home campaign

THE National Park Homes Council (NPHC), the trade association that represents the residential caravan industry, is spearheading a new campaign to promote park home living.

The NPHC, with support from the park home industry, is revitalising the previously successful Smarter Move campaign.

Activities include a new website with a manufacturers’ gallery showcasing the latest park homes, a small targeted advertising campaign and supporting literature.

“The latest parks homes are fantastic, with excellent build quality,’” said NPHC Deputy Director General, Alicia Dunne. “Because they can be built to customers’ specifications, they are ideal for people with special needs due to limited mobility, for example. They can also be positively luxurious – a long way from their origins as distress housing.

“The campaign website is designed to showcase to planners and the buying public the finest designs in modern mobile homes. It also explains in clear terms the unique legal status of park homes and shows where some of the best residential parks are located.”

The site contains a searchable list of licensed residential parks and a selection of Frequently Asked Questions about park homes. The site alerts potential buyers to the importance of making sure that the park home they choose is built to the British Standard (BS3632) and sited on a protected site, licensed for year-round residential use.

Currently around a quarter of a million people live in park homes, across 2,000 sites in England, Scotland and Wales. Legal protection for them is similar to that of owners of leasehold flats.
