New draindown unit prevents freezing

Here’s a unit that could save your home’s water system from frost damage during the winter shutdown.

The Flo? Draindown is designed to get rid of the residual water which is always left in the home’s system even after it has been drained down.

Having turned off the water at the stop cock and drained down the system, the Draindown is attached to one of the taps – preferably an outside one – using the connector supplied. Then the dust cap is removed and either a foot pump or preferably a 12V compressor is connected to it just as it would be in the case of inflating a car tyre.

The system is then inflated to a maximum of 2 Bar (30psi) and each tap and shower opened in turn to expel the remaining water in the system. Simple but effective.

The Flo? Draindown is suitable for all types of mobile home and costs £23.99 from the manufacturer APT Innovations. You can see an online demonstration at the websiste: www.keepfloeing.com.
