IRISH LODGE MAKER DEVELOPS NEW PARK IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND
Unusually, this park and holiday home manufacturer is based in Northern Ireland. Even more unusually, it is developing a new leisure-lodge park – its first – in the south of England.
Jaybelle Grange is located on the site of an old country manor house of that name (formerly owned by a sheikh) at Littlehampton in West Sussex.
The reasons for Oak Grove’s choice of location were threefold. Firstly, being on the south coast, this park is close to the sandy beaches which border this stretch of the English Channel. Secondly, the newly-established South Downs National Park, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies just four miles to the north. Thirdly, this stretch of coast boasts the highest annual level of sunshine in mainland Britain.
So far 24 plots have been completed and a dozen lodges sited as part of phase one of the development, with five sold, four available to rent and the rest, show homes. The licence allows for up to 38 plots in total, all Oak Grove models and all but one, 40x22 in size.
Prices start at £140,000, with the annual plot fee set at £2,500 and the park staying open all year round. The licence period is 25 years but that can be extended up to 100 years on payment of an extra charge.
