About Sunlight

In 2005 Capron was established as a joint venture between Hymer and Dethleffs to build entry-level motorhomes and, in November 2006, production began in a former agricultural machinery factory in the old East Germany. In 2009 the base vehicles switched from Ford to Fiat and, in 2016, production of caravans was stopped in order to focus on motorhomes.

Today, Sunlight (designed to embody a slightly more youthful feel in its furniture, graphics, etc, but otherwise offers the same designs as its sister Carado brand) has a range of van conversions, overcab and low-profile coachbuilts and A-classes covering the most popular continental layouts. All Sunlight and Carado vehicles are now built at Capron.

Sunlight, a manufacturer respected across Europe for its German-made, high-quality, value-for-money models, produces a hugely successful range of low-profile motorhomes.

These low-profile coachbuilts, all of which have at least four travel seats as standard, are available as vans, which are compact low-profile models available in the high-spec Adventure Edition, and the well-equipped low-profiles, which are available in both standard spec or the higher-spec Adventure Edition ranges.

The low-profile range is made up of six models – the T 58, a two-to-three-berth with a rear French bed layout, then there are the T 67, the T 67 S and the T 68, all of which are two or four-berths with twin rear single beds and an optional drop-down double above the lounge. The range-topping T 69 L and T 69 LC have rear island beds and optional drop-down double beds above the lounge, which can also be made into a fifth berth when required.

Topping off the low-profile range from Sunlight is the Adventure Edition line-up, which is available in three layouts – the T 67 S, T 68 and the T 69 L – but, as befitting a special edition range, these models come packed with extra equipment as standard.

These extras, which all come in addition to the already high standard equipment level and which make this special edition range so popular, include 16in alloy wheels, matt black Adventure graphics, the All-in-One Pack (awning, bike rack, 22in TV and satellite system), cab sunroof, larger fridge (167-litre), dinette bed conversion kit, plus more.

The flagship A-class range of motorhomes from Sunlight saw a revised design introduced last season and it continues to offer the same benefits for the 2023 model year.

There are three models – I 67 S, I 68 and I 69 L – and all come with the revised LED headlights and indicators and black headlight covers. In the interior, the reworked dashboard integrates more storage, including specific places for a smartphone, maps and coins, as well as cup holders.

The trio of models offers the three most popular layouts across Europe – twin rear single beds (I 67 S and the longer I 68) and, in the I 69 L, a rear island bed. All three come with a second drop-down double bed above the cab, meaning they are all suitable as four-berth motorhomes – plenty of space for a couple or even for a family of four. All are based on the 3,500kg Fiat Ducato, making them perfect for those looking for a luxury motorhome that can be driven on a standard car driving licence.

If you are looking for more kit, then take a look at the Adventure Edition versions, with a different style and a whole load of upgrades.

The biggest news from Sunlight is the European launch of its Ford-based Cliff 4x4. While we wait for this awesome campervan to arrive on the UK’s shores, there is plenty to love about the current right-hand drive line-up of Sunlight Cliff campervans, which are available in the standard Cliff specification, as well as the Adventure Edition and the RT Adventure Edition.

The range is made up of three layouts – the rear transverse double bed Cliff 540, the longer Cliff 600, also with a rear transverse double bed and the Cliff 640, which has twin single beds at the rear.

The Cliff range now also comes with the option of an elevating roof for the first time, adding an extra two berths. The pop-tops feature zipped opening sections with flyscreens on all sides and, unusually, a large opening rooflight. The 2.06m by 1.43m bed is said to be one of the largest on the market and comes with a slatted bed frame and cold foam mattress. The roof area also has a reading light with integrated USB plug and 12V socket.

Sunlight is also offering Adventure Line versions of its three Cliffs, which are packed with extra equipment as standard.

Highlights of Sunlight 2023 motorhomes

  • Models available in high-spec Adventure Edition

  • New 4x4 Ford-based campervan

  • Rising roof now available in the campervan range

  • High equipment levels as standard

  • Made in Germany
