About Laika
Laika was founded in 1964, with the company taking its name – and its logo – from the first dog in space. Laika’s first product was a tiny caravan, designed to be pulled along by the equally tiny, rear-engined Fiat 500.
By the late 1980s, Laika Laserhome A-class models were making their mark in the UK, while the long-running Ecovip name debuted in 1992. Then, in 2016, the company moved to its new, purpose-built plant at San Casciano, which is said to be one of the most advanced motorhome factories in Europe.
Part of the Erwin Hymer Group, Laika offers entry-level Kosmo, mid-range Ecovip and premium Kreos ranges covering the high-top campervan, low-profile and A-class body types.

This new L 5009 is one of the most impressive new models to arrive this year. The 7.99m-long low-profile model comes with the popular rear twin bed layout. Sitting on the Fiat Ducato with an Al-Ko chassis, this range-topping flagship is everything one would expect from this leading Italian manufacturer.
The body is constructed with direct wall-to-roof and wall-to-floor connections, giving it a super-smooth look as well as excellent insulation and high mechanical resistance. Ultra-flat automotive windows with aluminium frames add to the sleek exterior lines. There is a double floor throughout, which serves both as a thermal chamber to improve insulation and as stowage space.
The large garage beneath the beds with twin side doors is illuminated and heated, with non-slip floor, light switches on both sides, sockets and a 250kg payload. Wine lovers will appreciate the optional private wine cellar also found in the garage!
Inside, the interior includes, in addition to the opening Skyview rooflight above the cab, an optional electric opening sunroof, which can be opened while driving.
The furniture has real wood doors and the front lounge can accommodate up to seven people around the table. The entire space is designed for relaxation, perhaps in front of the 32in TV (optional) with electrically operated movement.
The washroom includes a large shower enclosure with wood-look floor, double showerhead, lighting and shelves. In the bedroom are two large single beds (200cm by 80cm), equipped with a high-comfort spring suspension system and adjustable headboards. They also have perimeter heating and sliding wardrobes beneath.

This 7.4m-long Ecovip A-class comes in one of Europe’s most popular layouts – a rear island bed and front lounge with twin-facing sofas. There is also a drop-down double bed above the cab and an additional fifth bed can be made from the lounge.
The highlight of the interior is of course the large island bed. The bedroom can be closed off from the rest of the habitation area with a sliding door.
Below the bed is a large garage. The washroom has a full shower cubicle on one side and the toilet and basin are opposite. This area can also be closed off from the galley and bedroom, creating a full en suite/changing room.
To the front, those twin facing sofas are available in a choice of fabric and leather finishes.

Laika’s latest low-profile Ecovip, the L 3019, is a Fiat Ducato-based coachbuilt featuring the popular twin rear single bed layout. At a shade under seven metres long, this Laika is perfect for exploring and, thanks to its layout, is eminently suitable for both couples and families.
The layout features those twin single beds at the rear (with a garage area underneath for all your holiday kit), both of which are 82cm wide and either 193cm or 191cm long.
At the front is an additional bed (188cm by 110cm) that can be made from the front L-shaped dinette and a further double bed (186cm by 139cm) that can be lowered from the ceiling when needed.
The centrally located kitchen is a chef’s dream, with a three-burner gas hob and twin circular sinks with a large fridge/freezer alongside. Opposite, the washroom is a relatively compact space, but a swing wall has the basin attached and this covers over the toilet area to create a separate shower when needed.
