About Carthago

Carthago is a German manufacturer best known today for its A-class motorhomes. However, the range also includes low-profile models and it owns sub-brand, Malibu, which includes van conversions in its portfolio. Carthago’s headquarters are in Aulendorf in Upper Swabia, where E-line and S-plus flagship models are made. The rest of the range is built in Odranci, Slovenia.

Founded in 1979, the company has grown from three employees making VW campers in the mid-80s to 1,400 staff producing a range of over 50 different models. It remains an independent family-run business.

The Carthago liner-for-two offers a four-room concept in a vehicle that is as compact as possible. For 2023, the German brand has refined its flagship model series, and this is immediately evident from its new exterior graphics, which are both dynamic and elegant; a dark grey core is framed by elements in anthracite and gold.

The interior is now even lighter and more inviting, characterised by table and sideboard surfaces in cream, new handles for the overhead storage lockers and a parquet-style floor. Note the new elegant panels for the washroom doors and the wardrobe in high gloss ivory with integrated chrome strips. In the cab, enhancements include sun visors below the bed and newly designed shelves and a padded drop-down bed panel with a leather look.

The liner-for-two 53 and 53L feature a cosy U-shaped lounge with an electrically extendable and adjustable TV lounger opposite a large 40in TV that you’d have at home on the wall. This is part of Carthago’s unique four-room concept, providing luxurious yacht-like living; two large skylights are positioned above, ensuring the space is always light and airy.

Ahead of the lounge is a well-appointed curved kitchen with ample storage; there’s a number of soft-close drawers below appliances, as well as overhead lockers. Since the cab offers another comfortable place to relax with both captain’s chairs swivelled, this area also offers a TV on the wall, as well as a workstation area for laptops, etc.

Between cab and kitchen, you’ll find the washroom with a separate changing room and floor-to-ceiling wardrobe.

When it comes to sleeping, an electric drop-down bed provides lengthways single beds (up to 2m long), with a door to close the room off for ultimate privacy and relaxation. Here, there’s plenty of storage, too, in the form of several cupboards and compartments.

With an enhanced feeling of spaciousness, the new optional lighter Casablanca world of style is the perfect companion for the slender, A-class motorhomes in the Carthago c-compactline model series.

Casablanca is the combination of the light cherry furniture décor and front panels in high gloss ivory on the overhead storage compartments and the kitchen drawers. In conjunction with the made-to-measure furnishings for the habitation width of just 2.12 metres, the living area of the slender c-compactline now makes an even airier impression.

The major strengths of the c-compactline have been retained for the 2023 season, with a double floor and an Al-Ko low frame. This year, Carthago is focusing on three layouts in the c-compactline range – the 6.41m I 138 DB with a transverse double bed in the rear, the 6.67m-long I 141 LE with single beds and the Vario swivelling washroom, and the I 143 LE with single beds and a combined washroom with a separable round shower. All three versions have the typical Carthago changing room with room-dividing function to shut off the front from the rear, and a spacious lounge seating group.

This season, Carthago has turned its attention to the low-profile motorhome offerings, the c-tourer T and  chic c-line T ranges, both on the Ducato chassis with the Al-Ko low frame and which now come in a lighter shade of white.

The c-tourer is available in both Lightweight and Comfort models. The c-tourer Lightweight models have shorter vehicle lengths of up to 7m. Thanks to the Carthago lightweight construction technology, they are ideal for certification within the 3.5-tonne weight class. If your driving licence allows you to drive heavier vehicles and comfort is more important than weight, the c-tourer Comfort models are the right solution.

The T 143 LE model has a layout comprising of a large lounge seating area and side seat bench. The spacious kitchen includes a designer bar cabinet, while a sumptuous luxury washroom incorporates the practical Carthago changing room concept. At the rear are large lengthways single beds measuring up to two metres, which can also be converted into a generous double bed.
