Stay in touch with the great outdoors

FOLLOWING THE success of the first Park & Holiday Homes Show at Lincoln in July, the magazine will be sponsoring the Holiday and Park Home Village at the 2006 London Caravan and Outdoor Show, which takes place at the Excel complex in London’s Docklands from Thursday November 16 to Sunday November 19.

The show is now the top London exhibition for all aspects of outdoor leisure industry, including caravans, motorhomes, camping and canoeing, in addition to residential and holiday homes.

As well as all the major ‘hardware’, there will be a huge variety of other outdoor leisure products on display, such as clothing and accessories, as well as food and drink.

Whether you are looking for a new park home, lodge or static caravan, need advice on insurance, or want information on potential parks and locations, a visit to Excel will help you make your choice – and it will also be the ideal place to pick up a Christmas gift for the outdoor enthusiast.

Among the attractions will be celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli and Lesley Waters, who will be cooking up some fabulous dishes for outdoor living in The Outdoor Kitchen throughout the show. There will be a climbing wall, a canoe and kayak pool and a football pitch where you can try scoring a penalty against Liverpool legend Bruce Grobelaar.

On a more practical level, if you’re thinking of using some of your extra leisure time and capital by investing in a caravan for some long touring holidays, the Camping and Caravanning Club will be running a free ‘Start Caravanning’ towing course. The club will also be running the show’s onsite Riverside View campsite (tel: 0845 130 7257).

And experts from Warners Group Publications will be on hand at the Out & About Live.co.uk Advisory Café to offer advice and information for those who want an impartial view of some of the products and service on display.

Tickets for the show – which will be open from 10am to 6pm each day – are £7 in advance (£9 on the door), or £6 (£7.50) for seniors (60+). Tickets include a free showguide if you buy in advance, before November 15.

But see the October issue of Park & Holiday Homes magazine for special offers and a competition in which you could win one of 25 pairs of tickets for the show.
