The National Caravan Awards 2016 – the winners!

The results have been announced for the 2016 National Caravan Awards, sponsored by The Caravan Club, following a presentation ceremony at The Ritz in London with Caravan magazine and many top industry representatives.

During the summer and autumn, as the caravan manufacturers unveiled new models for 2016, the Caravan magazine team scrutinised them all and then selected three very special caravans in each of the awards categories. These formed our highly commended shortlist.

Final judging took place at the NEC autumn show. The judges are managing editor, John Sootheran, test editor, Val Chapman, digital editor, Ben Hackney-Williams and technical expert, Terry Owen.

How we judged them

Each highly commended caravan was awarded marks according to a stringent scoring system that follows 10 criteria:

Storage, sleeping accommodation, kitchen, showering, dining, lounging, styling, equipment level, towing equipment, and value for money.

The judges then chose one exceptional caravan from among the category winners, to take the title: Caravan of the Year.
