NCC joins fight to save UK tourism: urges government to back British holidays
NCC backs Back British Holidays campaign, calls for urgent action to protect UK tourism
The National Caravan Council (NCC) has officially thrown its weight behind the Back British Holidays campaign, urging the Government to take immediate action to safeguard the UK’s domestic tourism sector from further decline.
Representing around 700 businesses across the caravan, motorhome, holiday park, and residential home industries, the NCC’s support adds significant momentum to the campaign, which is calling for better promotion, financial backing, and infrastructure improvements for UK tourism.
The NCC’s Deputy Director General, Alicia Dunne, comments:
"Any decline in domestic holidays puts jobs, livelihoods, and businesses at risk"
The NCC’s Deputy Director General, Alicia Dunne, said:
“We’re really pleased to put our support to the Back British Holidays campaign, which aims to highlight and celebrate a vital part of the UK economy – our wonderful domestic tourism sector and especially holiday parks and our leisure vehicle industry.
The campaign’s latest report warns of a potential 32% drop in domestic holidays, forecasting a £23.2 billion loss in visitor spending if action isn’t taken. Rural communities, coastal resorts, and small tourism businesses are already feeling the pressure.
Alicia Dunne, also stated that:
“Any decline in domestic holidays puts jobs, livelihoods, and businesses at risk. By backing the campaign, we’re calling on Government decision-makers to activelyprotect and promotetheUK holiday sectorand our great British staycation. We are also urging our members to support the campaign too.”

By joining the campaign, the NCC is backing a series of key recommendations, including sustained promotion of UK holidays, increased financial support for businesses, and collaboration to manage rising operational costs. The campaign also advocates for the development of green tourism initiatives and strengthened tourism zones across the UK.
The campaign’s recommendations urge the Government to:

- Boost financial support for tourism businesses
- Collaborate to manage inflation and operational costs
