OUR VERDICT Proof that you don’t need to pay top dollar for a top tent. For less than £800 you get a level of tent you might expect to pay another £300 for, at least – with a carpet and footprint thrown in for good measure!

PRICE £799

Who’s the Outdoor Revolution Camp Star 600 for?

For families looking for a good quality tent that doesn’t cost a fortune but is still full of features

What’s the Outdoor Revolution Camp Star 600 like?

When people think of budget tents they probably imagine something from a supermarket middle aisle costing £100 or less. So, it might seem a bit strange to include a £799 tent in that category. But value for money is not just about the lowest price, it’s about how much tent you get for your buck, and the Camp Star 600 certainly delivers on that front.

Camp Star is Outdoor Revolution’s entry level range of inflatable family tents and, while it clearly has a lower spec than the main collection, there’s no question that it represents excellent value for money without compromising on qulaity. Even more so when you consider that the price includes a carpet and footprint – essential buys for many campers.

The design is a typical large family tunnel tent with three zones – an enclosed front porch, a generous living area and the sleeping section at the rear. All the standard features you’d expect are there – large PVC windows, sewn-in groundsheet, mesh doors, ventilation panels, EHU cable port, etc – but there are a few compromises to keep costs down.

The curtains use toggles instead of zips, for example, and the fabric has a lower hydrostatic head rating – although not to the extent that it should significantly affect the waterproofness of the tent.

The bedrooms use darkened Twilight fabric and can be split into a 2/2/2 set-up using the toggled dividers and are comfortable for a family of four. Overall, an excellent tent for the money.

What’s good about the Outdoor Revolution Camp Star 600?

Large front porch area; Generous living space; Good ventilation throughout; Excellent value for money
