What is the Outdoor Revolution Camp Star 500 like?

The Camp Star range is Outdoor Revolution’s entry-level collection of inflatable tents and is designed to be an affordable introduction to a brand that generally sits at the upper level of the price scale.

For this five-berth model, you’ll can expect to pay around £649, which might not exactly sound like a budget tent, but it’s a few hundred pounds cheaper than similar-sized premium tents in the Outdoor Revolution range.

And while some of the spec on the Camp Star is lower, it’s by no means a back-to-basics tent. In fact, it’s features are of a standard you’d expect to pay much more for, and that’s what makes it great value for money.

And the fact that it comes bundled with a carpet and a footprint groundsheet just adds to the  value.

At the front, the canopy is just deep enough to provide shelter for outdoor cooking, and it provides protection from the elements as you go in and out the main front door. The living area is bright and airy thanks to the large PVC windows and the numerous ventilation panels – including a full mesh panel on the front door – that allow air flow throughout.

In theory, the bedrooms are designed for five, but more realistically they would be suited to two adults and two children – or a third adult. The toggle-in divider can be removed to create one large bedroom. The inner tent has darkened ‘Twilight’ fabric to lessen the impact of the early morning sunshine.

On the outside of the tent, the high-density fabric has a hydrostatic head waterproof rating of 3,000mm which is perfectly adequate for normal British weather conditions.

The Oxygen Air Frame is easy to pitch through the Dynamic Speed Valve (DSV) system, with deflation a the push of a button.

Reflective guylines with quick adjusters are designed to be easily seen under torchlight at night and there’s a cable access point for electric hook-up that extends to the bedroom.

Overall, this is an excellent value five-berth tunnel tent, ideal as a weekender for smaller families.
