WHO’S IT FOR?
Growing families looking for a good value for money tent that they will be able to use for several years

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
The Orion is a versatile pole tent for growing families that you’ll be able to be use for years if well-maintained. It can be used as a three-berth tent with a huge living area, ideal for when you want to keep young children close-by at night. And when you family grows or the young kids get older and want a little more privacy you can fit the other three-berth sleeping pod, to create a vis a vis style tent for up to six. Pitching is easy, with four colour-coded poles. The two central poles have steel uprights which are joined to the fibreglass roof poles with sturdy plastic knuckles to maximise headroom and stability. The ripstop  flysheet comes in an unusual, but not unattractive, charcoal and orange colour scheme and has a 5,000mm hydrostatic head. In keeping with the space theme of the tent’s name, there’s a roof skylight in the living area that lets you do a spot of stargazing at night. It can be covered with the attached blind to keep the sun out during the day – and maybe stop those nosey astronauts on the International Space Station peering in as they pass by! Depending on whether or not you have the second bedroom compartment fitted, access is either through the large front door or via the side entrance. Both doors can be turned into canopies with the included set of poles. The large windows give good light inside and there’s a half mesh/half PVC window on one side for extra ventilation. The high-level ventilation panels at the front and provide good airflow and there’s a large vent at the back of the darkened bedroom to combat condensation. The mesh-backed doors keep bugs out while allowing fresh air in.

WHAT’S GOOD?
Flexibility of sleeping arrangements; quality ripstop flysheet; bright and airy interior; good ventilation throughout
