The Kampa Dometic Hayling 4 is a compact poled tent that is quick and easy to pitch and the perfect size for smaller families
The Kampa Hayling 4 sleeps up to four people so is ideal for smaller families who take short breaks.
This is the poled version of the popular Hayling 4 Air, which we reviewed earlier this year. Like the Air, this is a four-berth tent which boasts quality spec at a very attractive price. In fact the price is the only significant difference between the two… which makes it a good comparison for those debating whether to go inflatable or poled.
The Air version retails at £899 while the poled version costs £475 – so you can literally put a price on the convenience of going inflatable.
That said, setting up the poled version is actually pretty easy, with four equally-sized poles. Once pitched there's lots of living space for a smaller family. The front porch area especially is useful, either as a cooking area or simply as a sheltered space to sit of an evening.
The large living room boasts great views through full-length panoramic windows and the ventilation system provides low and high level mesh panels to allow a good flow of air and the side door has a mesh backing to allow air in and keep bugs out.
The tent has a fully sewn-in groundsheet and the darkened bedroom is divided by a zip partition that can be rolled away if not needed. Added features include two cable entry points and storage pockets for small items in the front wall of the inner tent. It all packs away easily enough into the oversized carry bag.
The large built-in front canopy provides plenty of covered living space; panoramic windows; good ventilation to tackle condensation.
