GERBER has teamed up with survivalist Bear Grylls to create a range of knives, tools and gear and with more than 70 years of expertise, the company’s reputation for quality means this is not some celebrity cash-in. Some of the more frightening-looking knives in the range look like they’d be capable of taking out a rampaging grizzly, but there are products more suited for those of us whose survival needs are limited to finding a gadget to open a beer bottle. The compact multi-tool is small enough to carry around in your pocket but with ten components it has something to deal with almost every campsite emergency. As well as two knife blades, it also includes pliers, wire cutters, three screwdrivers, a lanyard ring, tweezers and the all-important bottle opener. It’s lightweight but feels sturdy and the nail nicks on each tool make access easy, even for the most sausagey of fingers. And just in case you do find yourself stranded alone in the rain forest, the tool comes with a pocket guide featuring Bear’s survival essentials.
