A great value tent for weekend getaways or for festival camping
WHO’S IT FOR?
For small families or couples who go on weekend breaks or touring.
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
The Ribble has quite an unusual layout – it’s a tunnel tent but rather than the poles running across the width of the tent from left to right, they go front to back. It’s still easy to pitch though, with just two poles to contend with. It’s also light and compact when packed away, making it convenient to transport. The front door can be used in a variety of ways: Rolled away completely, fully closed for full privacy, used with the included poles with the side panels zipped closed (to provide protection from wind and rain), or as a sun shelter with poles and the side panels zipped away. Both of the latter options provide you with much needed living space. Behind the front door there’s a small storage porch for kit and access to the main sleeping area. This is fairly spacious, with enough room for three and plenty of height to sit up comfortably. The mesh corner pockets are handy for storing small items and there are ventilation panels on both sides of the inner tent to provide air flow.
Quick and easy to pitch. The sun porch is useful and there is a surprising amount of space in the sleeping area. Price is hard to beat, especially at this time of year when you can find it for as little as £45.
WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
It’s all very basic and there’s not much separate living or storage space when the front door is closed.
