What is the Coleman Weathermaster 6XL Air BlackOut like?

In many ways, this is a fairly simple tent but don’t be fooled into thinking that means it’s lacking in family-friendly features. In fact, quite the opposite is true – it's packed with them. But it’s the simplicity that makes the Weathermaster such a good choice for campers. Doing the simple things well isn’t always as, well, simple, as you might think, but Coleman has certainly achieved that.

If you’ve been camping for as long as we have, you’ll instantly recognise the Weathermaster name. These much-loved Coleman tents returned a couple of years ago, with a 21st century makeover. The new generation features modern FastPitch inflatable poles and BlackOut Bedroom™ technology, the sort of features that campers could only dream about having back in the day.

The whole Weathermaster Air range is designed for comfort and convenience. The 6XL is so easy to pitch it can be done by one person, yet provides sturdy living and sleeping accommodation for up to six people. The large enclosed porch extends the already spacious living area and can be used for storage or cooking.

The door of the porch can also be totally or partially rolled back and the flysheet with a UV Guard SPF50 coating ensures protection come rain or shine.

A drop-down groundsheet at the internal front door provides a barrier-free access in and out of the spacious living area, perfect for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The extra-large bedrooms are fitted with Coleman’s award-winning BlackOut fabric, which blocks up to 99% of daylight and keeps bedroom temperatures 5°C cooler in the daytime and 1°C warmer at night.

To keep the tent neat and tidy there are lots of storage pockets and the third bedroom can be removed completely to create a further storage area.

The 6XL has an impressive hydrostatic head of 4,500mm on the flysheet, welded seams and rain skirts. Both high and low ventilation, including a large zippable vent accessed from inside the bedrooms, reduces the risk of condensation and the zipper stoppers on the tent doors mean zips are always within reach in the event of an emergency, even for children.

This is a great choice for families – easy to pitch, plenty of space and all the features required for a summer holiday.
