OUR VIEW Doctor Who would be pleased with this deceptively spacious tent that seems much bigger than a standard two-berth. The sleeping room is very generous and there’s a large porch to dump your gear. The height allows decent movement and there’s the option of two doors, making access easy. The only downside is some overly simplistic instructions that camping newcomers may find unhelpful.

PITCHING  Although instructions are included with the Tasman, they’re not particularly helpful and anyone setting up a tent for the first time could be confused. That’s because the inner and outer come separately in the bag, which isn’t made clear in the brief illustrated instructions. However, once you’ve overcome that slight hurdle it’s an absolute breeze to put up and, of course, once you’ve connected the inner to the pegs you can always leave it attached for future use. Once you’ve finished camping, it’s straightforward to pack away and fits neatly into the bag.

LIVING Unlike some other two man tents, the Tasman has a large porch area, ensuring there’s always somewhere to dump your stuff. The Tasman is certainly best used as a weekend away or festival tent and, thanks to its light weight, certainly wouldn’t be cumbersome on a walking trip. An added benefit is the additional large side entrance and a detachable groundsheet in the porch that can be easily cleaned afterwards.

SLEEPING There’s ample room in the sleeping area, ensuring two people will fit inside comfortably – there might even be room for a third person, if you don’t mind snuggling up… well, everyone gets a bit friendly at festivals, don’t they? The peaked tunnel structure gives a little more head height for moving around inside. The porch features a double layer side door, which helps with ventilation.
