The Virginia 5 Air TC

Celebrating 30 years of Outwell tents

Essential Guide to Camping 2025: Outwell

Outwell celebrates its thirtieth birthday in 2025. In this time, it has built a rich heritage rooted in innovation and quality, with its tents, vehicle awnings and camping equipment shaping camping adventures for families worldwide.

"Millions of Memories" is how Outwell is describing this milestone, celebrating its dedication to nurturing the outdoor culture and creating lasting experiences for generations. Outwell’s largest-ever launch of new products takes place in 2025, with 32 new tents out of 43 models. Four of the six collections – Premium Air, Classic Air, Discovery, Cardinal – are new and there is an equal split between air and traditional poles.

By combining a history of reliability with forward-thinking design, Outwell has become a trusted name. This commitment goes beyond products; it’s about fostering a love for nature and exploration in today’s youth, ensuring that the joy of outdoor life is passed on, allowing families to create new memories together in the open air.

The abiding heritage for innovative design sees the introduction of new 2025 ranges and more than 50 new and updated tent models, with associated options, to ensure Outwell innovative and contemporary designs continue to fulfil the needs of today’s family campers.

Virginia 5 Air TC

As you would expect from the Tent of the Year, the Outwell Virginia 5 Air TC is all about the quality. In fact, as the judges in the Out & About Live Camping Awards 2025 stated, it’s “spectacularly good”. This five-berth, polycotton family tent combines superb materials with an innovative new design – while incorporating the features that Outwell has become synonymous with over the last 30 years.

For design innovation, quality and good looks, the Virginia ticks all the boxes. On the outside, we love the frame tent-like shape as well as the classy chocolate brown and coffee colour scheme. Inside, the huge windows ensure a bright living area and the almost upright walls create loads of space.

The unique part is at the back, where there’s a side access to an enclosed porch area, perfect for storage or for sitting out under cover. The two-berth inner alongside it has a window which lets you enjoy the view from your bed, or it can be removed altogether to create more living space.

Don’t let the £2,000 RRP put you off, as this could well be your ‘forever tent’. While some cheap models might provide three or four years of regular use at best, the Virginia has the potential to keep going until the kids have decided they no longer want to go on holiday with mum and dad.

And, if you’ve looked after it properly, because it is relatively compact, you could still enjoy years more use of it as a couple. So maybe that £2,000 price tag doesn’t seem so expensive after all.

Montana 4 Air

The Montana in its various forms has arguably been the most popular family tent model over the last couple of decades. It has certainly been the most influential.

Since it first appeared back in the noughties, Outwell’s unofficial flagship tent has inspired a host of imitators, but as the song goes, nobody does it better.

The Montana is back for 2025 – Outwell’s thirtieth anniversary year – as a four or six-berth inflatable.

Both versions follow the proven Montana design, featuring a side porch for a sheltered entrance, a fully sewn-in groundsheet and a sloping front.

It is compatible with the Outwell Nightlight System and is made with premium materials, including the 6,000mm hydrostatic head flysheet, made from Outtex 6000 Express RS ripstop fabric.

The four-berth is a brilliant tent for small families or couples, packed with trademark Outwell features inside and out

San Antonio 2 Air

Solo and two-berth tents rarely come with standing room or usable living space, but this new compact model from Outwell breaks the mould.

Despite its dinky size, it’s spacious enough for comfortable camping – and comes with plenty of features such as high and low ventilation, and the HookTrack system.

There is standing room throughout, darkened bedrooms to keep out the morning light and a living area that’s spacious enough for a couple of chairs and a dining table.

Highly commended in the Weekend Tent category in the Out & About Live Camping Awards, the San Antonio 2 is one of 10 new tents in the Deluxe Air collection aimed at experienced family campers looking for practical and uncomplicated features.

Key features include Outtex 4000 Select fabric with PFC-free water repellent treatment, good ventilation, fibreglass front poles and TPU DuraAir tubes instead of PVC.
