Editor’s pick: the top holiday park of August 2020 – Sandy Balls Holiday Village, New Forest

a9a515de-92de-4c0d-9628-fefaeb9e2f6d

Amid the magnificence of the New Forest, and just over half-an-hour from the Hampshire coast, sits a true holiday village.

Sandy Balls, at Fordingbridge, a couple of miles from Ringwood, has its own village square, with a restaurant, pub, leisure centre with swimming pools and a gym, plus a cycle hire shop.

This is very much a family place, with a raft of activities that have the accent on adventure and satisfying families’ competitive spirit. For all of those reasons and more, Sandy Balls easily deserves Editor’s Pick status for the August 2020 issue of Park and Holiday Home Inspiration magazine.

During many family holidays here, the Chapman team did just about every activity on offer – and we still have two Top Gun laser clay shooting trophies to prove it!

The New Forest is criss-crossed with cycle and walking routes and Fordingbridge is one of the best centres for this. You can seek out remote routes, or you can discover pretty little hamlets and villages; whatever your style of exploration, you can find it in the area surrounding Sandy Balls.

And there’s more adventure to be had on the park. A host of activities takes place here, including a bushcraft school, archery and guided alpaca walks, as well as laser clay shooting. There are Segway forest tours – and ‘foresteering’, a family adventure designed to teach children how to navigate using a map and compass, on a trek around the park.

There are also bug hunts, woodland survival skills, pond dipping and catapult making. There’s a horse riding centre nearby, too – with tuition for beginners and hacking for competent riders.

All this and there’s also a wide choice of holiday home types to buy; there are homes here to suit a wide variety of budgets and pre-owned ones are often available.

Park and Holiday Home Inspiration magazine is published to help owners and buyers of both park and holiday homes to get the very best from their investment. You can get a copy of Park and Holiday Home Inspiration magazine here.
