The 2017 motorhome launches you may have missed

Some motorhome and campervan manufacturers did not reveal details or pictures of their new 2017 models until the actual Motorhome and Caravan Show was taking place at the NEC last week. So, if you missed them, here they are.

MMM magazine and outandaboutlive have, of course, already reported on many of the 2017 motorhome and campervan launches in the run up to the Motorhome and Caravan Show last week. You can read all about these new 2017 motorhome here.

 

Lunar Motorhomes

The biggest news at the show was the revealing by British manufacturer, Lunar, of its all-new Roadstar and Telstar motorhomes, which are names from Lunar’s history.

The Telstar (pictured above) is a rear-lounge, two-berth model measuring 6.4m. The rear lounge converts into two single beds or one double.

Pricing is £46,999 plus £1,999 for dealer delivery.

There were two models of Roadstar: the TI with a rear island bed and side washroom and the SB with fixed single beds and a rear washroom. Both are 7.7m long and will cost £59,999 plus delivery charge.

Bailey Motorhomes

Bailey of Bristol revealed its Autograph range earlier this year but used the show to reveal the as-yet unseen 68-2 – a rear lounge coachbuilt that converts into a double bed.

Unusually it has a shower and toilet combined washroom located towards the front.

It comes on a Peugeot Boxer Al-Ko chassis with a 2.0-litre 160bhp Euro VI engine. The low-profile is 6.79m long and is priced at £49,995.

Wellhouse Leisure campervans

Wellhouse Leisure’s all-new SsangYong Turismo Tourist is a campervan that’s also an everyday family car.

The driver and passenger seats rotate to face the rear seats, which can be folded flat. Infill cushions and a memory foam topper are used to create two single beds.

The Tourist is powered by a 2.2-litre, 174bhp Euro 6 diesel engine with six-speed manual transmission. There are also options for the new Mercedes-Benz seven-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel drive version.

This campervan has an elevating roof, tailgate awning, sink, small 25-litre compressor fridge, fresh and waste water tanks and a portable toilet. Cooking is via the gas-fuelled hob which slides back and forth, so can be used inside or outside. Prices start at £29,995.

Wellhouse also showcased a prototype conversion based on the Toyota Proace, which will have four seats and a 1.6-litre diesel engine, as well as a two-berth coachbuilt based on a Ford Transit Custom. This was developed in partnership with Nu Venture Motorhomes and is just 5.5m long with a front lounge dinette that converts twin singles or a double bed. Pricing is from £46,000.

 

Hillside Leisure campervans

Hillside Leisure used the show to launch its new Hartington, which is based on a hi-top LWB Renault Trafic.

It has four travel seats and sleeps two. The front driver and passenger seats rotate to face the rear ones and make up two single beds. The back half of the van has an L-shaped kitchen, with copious work surface area, and a washroom down the other side. The washroom has a fixed Dometic cassette toilet, shower tray with single drain and a tambour door. The kitchen offers a twin-gas hob and sink. Prices start at £39,995.

IH Motorhomes

For those wanting something more compact, IH Motorhomes launched its 540FL, a two-berth panel van conversion measuring just 5.4m long.

Based on a Fiat Ducato, it has a Euro VI 2.3-litre 130bhp engine. There’s a front lounge, which converts into a 1.85m by 1.22m double bed, and a rear washroom. Prices start at £51,495. Y

Brownhills

Dealer, Brownhills, launched of its dealer specials, called Champagne, all based on the new Swift Escape range.

Every Escape model is available as a Champagne edition which adds a number of features like the Swift Winter Pack and a pull-out awning, a Truma DuoControl crash sensor changeover regulator for heating on the move, the bigger 16in alloy wheels, cruise control and air-con, ESP with traction control and hill descent, DAB radio and sat-nav, and a rear view camera.

There are eight motorhomes in the range and all the cabs will be styled in a gold colour. There is a specific soft furnishing scheme and branded carpets inside. Prices start at £45,995 for the rear lounge Champagne 622.

 

Devon Conversions campervans

Meanwhile, Devon Conversions launched the Sunrise Designer Sport (pictured below) based on a short wheelbase Renault Trafic, and the Vitesse, based on the Mercedes Vito.

The Sunrise has a 1.6-litre dCi 115bhp engine with cab air-con, alloy wheels, cruise control, parking sensors and a built-in sat-nav. As with Hillside’s Hartington, there are four travel seats, which turn into two single beds. Prices start at £36,399.

The Vitesse, on the other hand, has a more VW-like layout, with a rear bench seat and side galley kitchen. The bench seat folds flat to create a double bed and there are sliding doors that open on both sides of the ‘van. Prices start from £39,995.

Other reveals at the show included Nomad Campervans with a new version of the Ranger based on a VW T6 Kombi T32 Highline; and Richard Baldwin Motorhomes revealing its dealer special Musketeer range of Elddis-based motorhomes.
