What Motorhome reveals Insurance Provider of the Year 2024
For more than 20 years, What Motorhome has been publishing a guide to insurance cover for motorhomes and campervans
As well as providing in-depth details of policies, the aim is to give an insight into the state of the market, courtesy of senior industry figures.
One of the major trends that has emerged is that the market now has a definite split between campervans and traditional (coachbuilt) ’vans, with the former becoming ever more popular, especially with those who use theirs on an everyday basis. So, this year, for the first time the survey team has obtained two separate quotes from each insurer – one for a campervan and one for a motorhome.
Some insurers are set up to serve one of these markets better than the other; however the survey reveals that the insurers that are best for a motorhome also tend to be best for campervan cover.

Motorhome insurance - what do you need to know?
Cutting to the chase, motorhomes aren't cheap. They're a fantastic investment in your quality of life, helping you to enjoy an adventurous lifestyle and explore campsites across the UK, Europe and beyond, but it's an investment nonetheless.
To safeguard your prized motorhome, you need insurance that you can trust. We've written about motorhome insurance in detail elsewhere but now we can also reveal the winner of our annual survey conducted by What Motorhome.
This survey has been running for over 20 years and is the only in-depth review of motorhome and campervan insurance policies around.
What Motorhome Insurance Provider of the Year 2024
Just as in 2023, our survey team reckons Caravan Guard provides our couple with the best policy for their campervan. Adrian Flux is cheaper if you don't want breakdown cover, but unless your vehicle is new and has breakdown cover provided by the chassis manufacturer (Ford, Fiat, etc), that’s something you're going to need.
By the time you've added it onto the premium you'll be paying slightly more than for Caravan Guard's cover, which also comes with some slightly higher claims limits.
For Adrian Flux, the personal belongings limit is not very generous, although the rest of the limits are pretty good.
It’s Motorhome is also worth a mention here as it seems temptingly cheap, not least because breakdown cover is included as standard. However, some of its claims limits are relatively low, such as just £100 for personal equipment and £600 for windscreen replacement, while the £650 excess payable is high compared with some of its rivals.
