The new 4 Series range
Swift adds overcab coachbuilts to its Ford-based Voyager range with the launch of its 4 Series models, as well as launching the Carrera 194 and Escape 694 in its 2024 range.
For the 2023 season, Swift launched its first-ever Ford Transit-based coachbuilt motorhome range, the Voyager 5 Series. Now, for the year ahead, the established quartet of low-profile models will be joined by a trio of overcab Voyagers – the new 4 Series range. Like the 5 Series, these are based on the increasingly popular Ford cab, but they are not merely the existing layouts with a new luton; these are all-new floorplans.
Crucially, all three of the new Voyager 4 Series motorhomes are available on a 3,500kg chassis suitable for those with a standard Class B car licence, while each one is also priced from under £70,000. At 7.54m long, they are a typical size for fixed bed motorhomes.
Despite the keen price tags, the new vehicles have a comprehensive spec and a very short options list. The only factory-fit extras are the automatic transmission and SwiftShield soft furnishings, while an awning, bike rack and roof air-conditioning can be added by your dealer.
Standard equipment across the 4 Series range includes an external cold water shower, outside barbecue point, habitation door with window and central locking, a 100W solar panel, reversing camera, cab blinds, Isofix on the rear seats, Duvalay Duvalite Alto mattresses (with memory fibre for increased airflow and cooler, more comfortable sleeping), a 133-litre automatic energy selection fridge with removable freezer section, Thetford Triplex cooker with mains hotplate, dual-fuel Truma Combi with Crash Sensor Mono for en route use of the heating, Winter Pack with tank heaters for the underslung fresh (110-litre) and waste (85-litre) tanks, the VIN Chip identification system to deter theft and a 10-year bodyshell warranty.
The Ford base vehicle comes will all the kit, too, including a 155bhp motor, Magnetic Grey cab with colour-coded bumper, Zenec Xzent infotainment system with 12in touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air-conditioning, cruise control, ESC with Load Adaptive Control and Roll Stability Control, stop/start and front fog lamps.

MMM was invited for an exclusive preview of two of the new 4 Series models at the Swift factory.
The Voyager 4 Series builds on the success of the 5 Series introduced in the 2023 season. Based on a dependable Ford chassis, the Voyager 494 offers peace of mind as you embark on your open-road journey. One of the standout features is its refined and sleek interior, designed to utilise space without compromising on style.
Externally, they look almost identical as the 5 Series, with a swoopy luton that doesn’t jut too far forward of the windscreen (as the bed, when deployed extends well aft of the cab). That bed, of course, is a key feature – just pull it down (on gas struts) and you have a 1.92m by 1.34m double that leaves the lounge below undisturbed (although headroom above the mattress is limited to around 550mm max).
An external cold-water shower point is a handy addition, perfect for rinsing off muddy boots or cleaning your four-legged travel companion. Additionally, the barbecue point is ideal for summer adventures, allowing you to savour outdoor cooking.
Stepping inside, the front cab is well-equipped with a 9in touchscreen integrated into the dashboard, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring you’re well-prepared for long journeys. Settling in for the evening is a breeze, thanks to the cab blinds fitted to the windscreen and side windows. Above the cab, the luton double bed provides a comfortable night’s sleep. Moving to the rear, you’ll discover the island bed featuring an exclusive Duvalay Duvalite Alto mattress, ensuring maximum comfort and a great night’s sleep.
The washroom has a new design that includes a shower tray with a tip-up foldaway washbasin and a separate Vector vanity tap, making daily routines hassle free.
This Voyager 494 is the perfect blend of style, comfort, and practicality. Whether you’re embarking on a family adventure or a couples' getaway, this motorhome promises an unforgettable journey. With its reliable Ford chassis, innovative features, and attention to detail, the Voyager 494 is ready to take you on the road to explore new horizons, all while providing the comfort and convenience you deserve.
Voyager 485
The 485 swaps the island bed for twin singles in the stern (1.95m and 1.91m long with room to sit up in bed). Below here, as in the 494, is a garage with 1.10m headroom, twin loading doors and 12V and 230V power points.
Much more unusual, though, is the lounge, which here is a pullman dinette (the passenger cab seat still swivels, too). Having both forward and rearward-facing benches, the seating comes with three-point seatbelts for a trio of rear passengers (one person faces rearward to travel) – and, as the dinette makes into an extra bed, the 485 is a true five-berth with five belted seats.
The washroom and kitchen (bar the position of the fridge) are identical in the 485 and the 494.
Voyager 475
The third model in the range, which is still undergoing development, will have also have the same galley and washroom, as well as the pullman dinette of the 485, but at the rear will be a second lounge. Check this snapshot of the layout above!

Secure your bikes on the go with anchor fixing points in the floor, ensuring they stay put during your journeys. Plus, there’s generous under-bed storage with the beds in place.
For 2024, the Carrera range has received a stylish makeover. The new 4in LCD touchscreen control panel simplifies the management of lighting, power, heating and more. Rear door panels now feature a foldable storage table and door pockets, optimising storage options.
The front seating area is perfect for dining, and the well-equipped kitchen, complete with a stainless-steel hob and sink, and Dometic oven and grill, lets you cook complex meals while adventuring off-grid. With a manageable length of 6.36m, the Carrera 194 offers both spacious interiors and road-friendly manoeuvrability.
