stopovers

Hot on the heels of Forestry and Land Scotland’s stopover scheme we now have the Scottish Canals stopover scheme for motorhomes.

There are three stopovers available for self-contained motorhomes and campervans. These vehicles must have their own toilet facilities and tents are not allowed. The maximum length allowed is 8m and stays are limited to one night between 6pm and 10am with no return within 72 hours for subsequent overnight stays.

The trust has an online booking system, but this should only be used to pay on arrival at the car park once you have parked in the designated bay, not to pre-book. If all bays are full, you must find an alternative stopover or campsite.

The website lists all the rules with the main ones banning generators and bbqs and ensuring a 4m gap between units. The website also has a link to nearby emptying points for toilets and waste water.
