Pilote launches new entry-level campervans and motorhomes
French manufacturer, Pilote, is launching into the entry-level market with a new range called Joa Camp, which is aimed at a younger audience who have a ‘more modest budget’.
The new line-up consists of five low-profile motorhomes, which range in length from 6m to 7.5m – the 60F (French bed), the 70Q and 75Q (island bed), plus the 70T and 75T (twin single beds). All can be specified with a drop-down bed above the lounge and the 75 models come with five travel seats.
There will also be campervans in the new Joa Camp range – in 5.41m, 5.99m and 6.36m overall lengths with fixed bed layouts. The mid-sized 60G campervan with a transverse double bed is expected to go on sale at less than £42k. The other two campervans are the 63T (twin single beds), to be followed by the 54G (transverse rear double bed) in January 2022.
With Joa Camp, there are no frills, says Pilote. All have interiors inspired by Scandinavian design: light wood with a ribbed texture, accented by white and touches of bright blue. And, the kitchen units are the same across the whole range, irrespective of model, to keep costs down.
Unusually, these will be built on a Citroën Relay chassis, with a minimum of options, but buyers do have option packs available.
It is expected the Joa Camp range will be sold in the UK by a number of specialist dealers, and prices for the 70T and 70Q are expected to start at around £47,000, with 75T and 75Q being around £1,000 more.
On top of this, expect to pay about £1,000 each for the Chassis Pack and Cell Pack to bring the spec up to include all the essentials.
