Erwin Hymer Group hands over production facility to aid Ukraine crisis
The Erwin Hymer Group (EHG), together with its parent company, Thor Industries, has temporarily handed over its new production site in Poland as a logistics hub for relief supplies given to those fleeing Ukraine
The production site at Nowa Sól was acquired by EHG in October 2021 to create additional capacity for the motorhome, campervan and caravan manufacturer.
The conversion of the site was due to start this spring, with campervans due to leave the factory by early 2024, but EHG – together with the mayor of Nowa Sól and the local Red Cross – decided to offer the site for short-term logistical aid assistance.
The group has also donated €25,000 to purchase refrigeration facilities for food, plus essentials such as sleeping bags, mattresses, and baby food.
The majority of Ukrainian refugees in Poland – mostly women and children – are being housed in private accommodation, but should the number of refugees rise, the hall could also be used as emergency accommodation for those in need.
