Could this be the first almost-practical electric campervan?

Grounded RV has just unveiled its latest electric campervan design, the G2, which it says can offer 250 miles on a single charge.

Its first campervan, the G1, was actually based on the e-Transit with 108 miles in the ‘tank’, but the G2 is built on the BrightDrop Zero 600, an AWD delivery van.

However, prices are expected to start at $187,500 (around £155k).

Bit by bit

The interesting aspect to this company is its modular designs that can be changed as your needs changed.

Grounded CEO, Sam Shapiro, says,

Ground RV customers can design their perfect motorhomes on a grid, choosing from a range of pre-designed modules, but placing them where they need. Pay a deposit and a member of the team will schedule a design call and the order will be confirmed.

The modules are attached to mounting rails in the vehicle, which means they can also easily be removed or swapped for different modules. The rails can also be used for mounting accessories, from Grounded RV or elsewhere, apparently.

Some of the optional components include a fixed bed, seating for up to seven, a pull-out table for dining or working, and a full kitchen.

Most of the modules are made of plywood with a layer of birch coated on each side with a translucent melamine film; you can choose from 11 colours.
