Best reviewed gear in 2023: Nemo Helio Pressure Shower

This is a product that taps into the growing trend for off-grid camping, and is a bit of a game changer.
If you’ve ever tried using one of those cheap, gravity-powered camping showers you’ll know just how much of a miserable experience they can be. For a start they don’t have much water capacity, then you need to find something for them to hang from and, when you do eventually get it set up properly, invariably the water pressure is dismal, leaving you trying to wash or clean your muddy boots under a trickle of lukewarm water.
The Helio is different. It’s a portable, pressurised shower that can be filled and pressurised anywhere with its own foot pump, so doesn’t need to be hung up and you don’t need a power source to provide a strong continuous spray. A few pushes on the foot pump will keep the flow going.
It holds up to 11 litres of water and you can either fill it with hot water from a tap or a kettle if you have a source, or fill it with cold and leave it out in the sun for a couple of hours so it heats up naturally. You’ll get up to seven minutes’ worth of continuous flow from one fill, so that should be plenty to have a full wash, clean the dishes or give Fido a good wash down.

Best reviewed apparel in 2023: Montane Anti-Freeze Packable Down Slippers

After a long day on the hills, the first thing you want to do when you get into your campervan is take those heavy, muddy walking boots off and relax. But if it’s cold outside, sitting around in your stockinged feet is not a great idea.
Here’s my solution… slippers. Don’t worry, these aren’t your typical grandad slippers (although, if I’m honest, I’m rather partial to those, too), but are in fact made by outdoor specialist, Montane, which has a reputation for producing top-quality gear for extreme conditions. These slippers are like having a cosy jacket for your feet.
Filled with high-quality, water-resistant down, the Anti-Freeze Hut Slippers will keep your toes warm all year round. The slippers have a water-resistant outer and lining, non-slip soles and a stretchy ankle cuff that prevents the cold getting in.
The foam inner soles can be removed to reduce weight and bulk when you’re on the move and the slippers come with their own stuff sack so they can easily be crammed into a bag or cupboard. I love them.

On our wish list: Yeti Tundra Cooler

There are coolers and there are coolers but there is only one cooler that is truly cool, and that’s the Yeti Tundra. Much beloved of social media influencers, this is the coolbox that everyone aspires to own.
Needless to say, I don’t own one and, with prices ranging from £250 to an eye-watering £1,300, I almost certainly won’t ever buy one. But for some reason, even though I own two perfectly useful camping coolboxes already, I would really like one. I suppose I would just like to be the cool kid for once, and if that means owning a big, chunky coolbox that I can fill with cold beers, take to photogenic beaches and snap for my Instagram account, then so be it.
I don’t even know how effective they are as coolers (although I’m led to believe they are excellent), but I just know that my life will be improved by having one. Yes, I know that’s shallow, but sometimes that’s allowed. And if Christmas wish lists aren’t for things you would like but don’t need and would never buy yourself, just what exactly are they for? I’ll have the Nordic Blue please.

EnviroRides Ezi Stow

E-bikes are growing in popularity due to their convenience and ease of use and fact they they let you explore on two wheels – with the bonus of some electric-powered help. The Ezi Stow is a perfect choice for campervanners as not everyone has a storage area in their ’van capable of taking a full-sized bike.
The 13Ah lithium-ion battery offers around 50 miles of pedal assistance, taking four to six hours to recharge. Other features include 20in tyres, integrated front and rear lights, pannier rack, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano gear shifter and derailleur, and an easy-to-use display showing speed, battery, level of assistance, average speed and trip computer.
This model costs £1,099.99, and comes with a two-year warranty and free delivery. Plus, you can spread the cost over three or four payments.
