Mounts Farm Touring Park

Located directly off A381 from Kingsbridge to Totnes, Mounts Farm Touring Park offers 50 pitches set over a six-acre plot. These pitches are spread over four fields – three are camping fields and the fourth is designated as an orchard and is located on the right of the wide private driveway that leads to the site.Tall hedges shield the three other fields from road noise and help divide the site into distinct areas. All the on-site amenities are grouped into one set of single-storey buildings in the first field. These comprise a laundry room with a couple of dishwashing sinks, as well as a shop that sells a wide range of camping accessories – ranging from spare water carriers to outdoor games equipment (kites, badminton rackets etc). In terms of groceries it offers milk, eggs, bacon, cold meats, cheese, oven chips, ready meals, drinks and ice cream. You can also order a morning paper here.
Also in this area are the ladies and gents toilet blocks, which are of a decent standard with inset oval sinks, tiled floors and roomy showers. Tall gentlemen need to duck coming out of the gents, it’s worth noting. Completing the on-site buildings is a wooden shed that houses tourist information leaflets, an assortment of books to borrow and a camper’s freezer.
This first field offers 10 pitches all with 16 amp electric hook-up (25 hook-ups are available in total), with all plots being on firm level grass. The site has four inches of topsoil over a shale base and is said to drain very well, so there’s little danger of getting stuck during the wetter months of the year.
Two further fields complete the remaining pitches, with field number two offering the remaining electric hook-ups and having plenty of room for children to run about and play ball games (or fly that kite they bought in the shop). Field three features a caravan storage area for seasonal visitors and has the remaining pitches. This last field also has the best views on site, with the rolling Devonish countryside being clearly visible.
All the pitches have plenty of space around them and the grassed areas were well mown, with the hedging also clearly being well tended to. The site's location makes it an ideal base for exploring the nearby towns of Kingsbridge – a pretty town on an estuary that has plenty of places to eat, a cinema and a leisure centre – and Dartmouth, which is as photogenic a town as you’ll ever find. For great views of the harbour, good seafood and interesting shopping, look no further.
